Period pain but not where I’d expect it to be!?

I had a mirenacoil fitted by a gynae in May and my periods are very much lighter and the horrendous (but mortal for me) pain has eased a lot. Before having the coil every month my period pain would take over my pelvis and, on the right side, extend up to my ribs, over my hip and around to my back. Since I’ve had the coil these right sided pains still happen every month, part way through the month (ovulation?) and remain to a lesser extent all the time. Many a time I’ve thought my appendix must be about to burst but obviously haven’t. Does anything have any kind of explanation for why these pains persist and each month get worse? I’ve had all the bowel exams so I know it’s not that. Many thanks

Hi Hlous sorry to hear about your pain.

I had similar right sided pains around my hip and lower pelvic area, also permeating into my back, leg etc. This was worse during, but not confined to my period.

Mine was caused by an endometrioma (also known as a chocolate cyst) caused by endometriosis. I had the cyst removed.

I do still get similar pains now but generally much less extreme.

Have you had a vaginal ultrasound scan to check for cysts or similar?

I would get referred by your GP.

Your right ovary right tube and appendix might be need a check by ultrasound and if eeded by lap . Also your kub region might need ultrasound check. Any uti?
