Hi, has anyone tried the Zoladex implant injection to treat their endo? My consultant has suggested it but i am very nervous after reading the possible side effects.

Zoledex and the effects of it are different for everyone. For me personally it has helped with endo and pcos pain but only to a point the pain is still there but less severe and I am now able to manage it.. there are side effects and for me this includes waking up in the middle of night dripping in sweat but freezing cold fatigue but the worst for me is that it makes me bleed randomly . It's not an easy drug to be on but you have to weigh up the pros and cons. Yes things are still hard but even a slight improvement is a god send for me I'd rather have a few side effects and slight pain than the horrendous dabillitating pain I had before..it's no contest for me

Hi. Totally agree with the other reply. Side effects are different for everyone. I’ve been on zoladex twice now and both times it left me completely pain free. I didn’t really suffer any side effects (had HRT at same time to stop sweat/ flushes). X

I had it and again as already mentioned it varies for everyone it was great while I was having it random bleeding for first few months dead arm for a week but seemed much better pain still there but more of a dull ache however I didn’t really experience any menopausal symptoms at all so feel I was quite lucky however two years on and being back on depo injection once again endo has reared it’s ugly head I seem to be ok for a year or two where I’m managing feel like I’m in a good place and start getting life in order again when it returns and I’m back to square one.

I have had zoladex on two ocassions once for 4 months then a year later for 6 months. I have to say it did really help with me i had no endo symptoms . Only thing i would say is on the 6 month stint i did get really run down. Ive never had water infections but got 6 was very poorly. And ive found you need to try everything to see what helps you! Endo is a very personal thing, not everything works for everyone. Ive been on every pill, zoladex, coil, last 6 months been on norethisterone which has been awful. Now got a planned hysterectomy on 12th dec. My last thing. I know it might not work, but after 10 years of suffering , ive gotta try.

Hiya, I have been on the zoladex for almost 3 years now, after 5 surgeries for stage 4 endo. I was sent to a London hospital, they suggested the zoladex. I had had it previous to that but only for a short period of time. I have to say that it took a few months to work, but when it did it really helped me, I do have some times when it does hurt toward the end of the injection running out but once it's back in my system I feel much better.

It has really helped me, I also take hrt to help with mood swings and my bones it really has kept my swood swings under control that's not to say I do have some days where I do lose control but once I calm myself I'm better I have a few hot flashes, but overall it has certainly helped me. I am also sent for bone scans every year it two years, on top of that I take calcium and cod liver oil

I hope this helps in making your decision xx
