Hi,

I'm having a lot of trouble with the pain my endo causes. Even though i'm currently taking tramadol and drug store pain killers like they're sweets, the pain is unbearable.

I've only recently been diagnosed with bladder and ovarian endo and i don't know if I'd be able to go to a&e for help. I mainly just don't want to waste their time.

Has anyone had any experiences or know if its ok?

Thank you x

Hi! Sorry you’re struggling.

If your pain is so extreme that you literally can’t manage it at all or wait it out then a&e would be your best point of call, however, I will let you know that I have been numerous times and bar one, it’s always been a waste of time. When I’m in that much pain it’s no good for me to be waiting in an uncomfortable plastic chair in a bright waiting room for 4+ hours to then be given either no painkillers, or maybe a dose of oramorph if I manage to be really firm and assertive with them about my pain levels.

I did go to my gp once this time last year however and she called the local hospitals emergency gynae department directly and recommended for me to be admitted. I went there and they agreed and kept me in for a week. It was kind of pointless looking back on it as all they did was give strong pain relief round the clock. Not sure what else could have been done though really. Unfortunately our services are increasingly strained making life more difficult for those of us with chronic pain.

I think in general it’s easier to stay home and wait it out :( sorry as this probably wasn’t the answer you wanted

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to get back to me. I just don't know what to do, when it's bad I literally can't move without being sick or feeling like I'm going to pass out. Maybe I should being this up with my gp again

Yes definitely speak to your GP! Are you under a pain management course or anything at all?

In the mean time hope you can get lots of rest and have a heatpad/hot water bottle to help

H I have been to A&E a couple of times and both times been put onto morphine due to the pain and kept in overnight as they have said they are not happy to let me go home. I imagine it depends on how much pain you are in & what medication you have taken which hasn’t worked x

hi I was diagnosed last September, been to a and e 9 times at all the visit I stayed for 2 weeks till the pain went down. I would get flare ups every month. I referred myself to a bsge centre since never had a flare up and not on any pain relief. had my first lap in aug.
