What is your opinion about Mirena? I am playing with that as an option, but site effects make me scared. Also is there anyone who did not consider any hormonal therapy. My surgeon is saying if I am not going to do that my condition will just get worse and worse. I have migranes with aura, so I am left only with progesterone. Mini pill (progestin) does not work for me, danazol also.
Thank you all!

I had the mirena fitted for heavy bleeding. It’s been brilliant, first two weeks were difficult, very heavy period and feeling sick but after that my bleeding settled and no more painful periods. I also stopped having UTI’s which I had repeatedly for over 10 years.
My coil was put in under a general anaesthetic and I had a few tests and biopsies done at the same time so my after effects might not just be the coil.
As for migraine, my understanding is you can have estrogen patches and they can improve migraines, I have them and I’ve temporarily had to stop them due to bleeding, my migraines have returned, didn’t have any whilst on patches. I’m presuming it’s the aura part is the reason?
No estrogen because of the migraines, only progesterone. I read that Mirena causes migraines, headaches, weight gain, etc and it can move (scary). So I am wondering in general if it worked for you in order to reduce pain. I do not have bleeding except for 2 days.
I've just been recommended to get the Mirena once my intense pain stops (who knows when that will be). She said for me it is the best option as I have extremely heavy bleeding.
I had a Mirena fitted at my last laparoscopy. Have to say its really improved my periods. I am one or the very few that still has them but much much lighter and the pain has improved greatly
