Hi I don't know really how to ask this but here goes. I'm having my first lap surgery for Endo in a couple weeks. And that's all my doc said. He didn't mention really anything about it. Just said I most likely have Endo and need the surgery. His office called me and told me the date of the surgery and that they'd call the day before to give me the time of the surgery and tell me how to prepare for the hospital. Is that normal? Should I have been told more? If so what do I need to know? Thanks for reading.

Hey it's horrible that they haven't given you much information. I'm not sure how much they should give you but I would have thought a letter to tell you the date of your op with a pre-laparoscopy do's and don'ts including fasting and drinking. It may be an idea to call your specialist secretary; ask for a confirmation letter in the post and the info on what to do before your lap. Also ask if there's anything that they find (endo, cysts etc.) will they excise the endo (best method of removal and means no repeat op needed in a few months), also will they take biopsies of anything they find that doesn't look right. A hysteroscopy is also good - I had that - camera up vagina into uterus - it looks for any issues structurally inside, good idea to ask if they'll do it under your general anaesthetic.
We can help you with some of the prep like what to take with you, what is a good idea to have at home when recovering, so don't be afraid to ask
xx
Thanks for the advice. First thing tomorrow I'm definitely going to call and see if they will do that. And I would greatly appreciate any advice on any of it. I have no idea what to take or have at home for recovery. I feel so lost and confused about all of this. I truly appreciate anything you can tell me. With my phobia of docs and hospitals not knowing is the worst. Again thank you for your advice
