Hi all. I just wanted to check whether it is ok to be prescribed the combined pill when we have been diagnosed with endo? I am a bit perplexed as I would have thought that we should avoid adding more oestrogen in our body? Thank you.

Endometriosis and combined pill
I was wondering this too as I've just been prescribed it. I can't seem to find much information online though.
Hi! I had a laparoscopy in march 2018 to remove a large cyst from ovary and a wee bit of cleaning up inside. The lap confirmed endometriosis after years and years of suffering!! I am now on combined pill which I take 3 packs in a row then stop for 1 week break. It's made a massive difference to me! Definitely worth trying. I tried the mini pill for 5 months and had a constant period and I felt quite rubbishy on it. So I binned that and got combined pill. I haven't looked back. Only having a period every 63 days now is such a difference plus it's only slightly heavy for first few days them goes away. Xx
Hi! The combined pill is best for women under 40 as the body still is producing a lot of hormones and it’s easier for the ovaries to still ovulate while one it. While the combined pill have a minimal risk of having the endometriosis return or continue to grow it is more reliable for stopping the ovaries from producing hormones.
No! Do not take the combined pill!!!! I was on it for a year then informed i should have been on the progesterone only pill and the combined pill 'feeds' endo.
Thank you. That what I thought when a top consultant nearly prescribed it to me, but I then explained that there is a history of breast cancer in the family, so she changed it to a progesterone pill only. I was very surprised, but as it was a top consultant, I assumed she would know.. Thank you so much. 😍
