Hi there, I've got an appointment with Mr Tony Chaloub in October, wondering if anyone's has been under him? How long was waiting list to have first lap? Can't wait to finally see a specialist gyne and would appreciate any advice thank you
Anyone been under Tony Chaloub from the R... - Endometriosis UK
Anyone been under Tony Chaloub from the RVI in Newcastle?
Is he part of the BSGE centre? I’m currently under a Mr Walker at QE hospital in Gateshead, he’s doing my laparoscopy in September and I still haven’t met him 🙈. So I’m thinking on asking him to not remove any endo and then asking my gp to refer me to a BSGE centre which I’m sure is at the RVI. I don’t know much about your doctor though sorry I can’t be any help xx
Yes he is, he's the only BSGE consultant listed in the area... Ok no worries, hope you get sorted x
Hi I’ve been under the RVI for 15yrs had numerous laps and finally a hysterectomy in 2016 Tony was in on this last op as they thought I was going to have to have some bowel resection done for a module that had to be removed that had fused my bowel and womb together .. my consultant left weeks after my op and did say if I had any issues in the future to ask to be referred back to Tony! Which I tried twice but both times ended up seeing other team members! Thankfully though there is another experienced consultant who I’m due to have a lap from in September
I still have huge issues with my bowel so may end up under Tony in the near future.. keep me posted
Yes I found the same. Could never get in contact with Tony. Was always seen by students under him who were still good and helpful!
Forgot to answer the question about waiting lists! I had my pre op in May and had to ring them to get an idea on how long I would wait, they initially told me I was in For end of August but then that changed to mid September and was told waiting lists are long.. as I mentioned before I was supposed to be with Tony Chaloub but ended up with a different consultant at the clinic.. I’m guessing all waiting lists may be long
Hi,
He is not only the head guy but,a fantastic surgeon.
You’re in really excellent hands...he did my robotic hysterectomy in 2017.
He’s in great demand!
My surgery was fast tracked due to a suspicious cyst.
Great guy...really down to earth too.
Waiting lists are pretty long to be completely honest but, they do operate a cancellation list and are very good at prioritising cases of concern.
The staff on the ward who look after you are also fab...I’ve got to know a few of them over the years!
You’re in very good hands I promise!
Best wishes,Clare
Hi, I am under him as well. I've been seeing other people in the gynaecology section in the RVI but I felt like I was getting no where, the tipping point came when i seen a dr and they said to me theres no point in doing another lap because we know you have endo. I also had my first lap under someone else and i dont think it was done correctly i got no relief.
I personally asked to be under Mr Chaloub as i knew he understood endo and i am so glad i did i have seen 2 people from his team and him and they were the first doctors to actually open up my photos from the last lap and explain what happened. He also was the only dr to explain the importance of fertility options to me.
I am currently on his waiting list for my second lap i had my pre-assessment on 4th june and still waiting, i also rang to be put on his cancellation list. When i rang last week they were saying looks like the end of sept for me.
I don't know of you're still waiting to see him but I've been waiting 18 months now for a laparoscopy for endometriosis. Last surgery was cancelled, again, 6 weeks ago. I've only met him once for 5 minutes! Hoping all goes well when i eventually get in!
I've just been referred to Dr Walker at QE on the rapid access pathway. Have you had any more information from them? Did you have any other bloods done?
I was referred to Tony Chaloub at Newcastle RVI
I’ve never met the guy as he’s always busy. Was always dealing with his secretary (who wasnt the nicest lady) and nurses/students under him,
My first appointment with a gynae was with his student who was surprisingly very helpful and understanding. This was in March 2021. I asked to be put on the waiting list for a diagnostic laparoscopy - he advised me the list was long due to covid.
I rang and chased it up. They put me up for any cancellations. I got a call in august 2021 that there’d been a cancellation and I had my laparoscopy which was done by Tony Chaloub. The only time I met him was when I was high as a kite on anaesthetic 😅 all went well and they found stage 1 endo
P.S. I do realise this post was from 2 years ago but thought I’d leave a comment as it may help anyone who’s scrolling through now
