Hey all, I got a surgery date for my second lap woohoo!!! After my last one I didn’t really have any comfortable clothes to wear outside of hospital, can anyone recommend some lightweight trousers that are also loose waisted? I have quite a journey home from the hospital.

Really lose PJ bottoms are great. Anything baggy on the tummy. Who cares what you look like, comfort is key! Good luck :)

Haha thanks! I was kidding on the fashion front, just struggling to find some loose waisted trousers and I HATE shopping 😂

I like leggings as they stretch, can be worn over or under. Handy to wear around the house/when visitors come and see you. Perfect with long t shirts or a nightie x

I wore maternity yoga pants after my surgery. The extra fabric around the tummy was perfect for post surgery bloat and the waist band is low enough that it shouldn’t press on your wounds xx

I wore pj's a size too big so they were nice and comfortable to leave the hospital. And borrowed some maternity leggings whilst recovering so I didn't have to worry about clothing rubbing on my incisions sites.

Thanks for all the feedback! It looks like maternity trousers is definitely the way forward then! ❤️

Larger than normal size leggings great, though I did get some amazing leisure type elasticated waist trousers from Primark..... Still wear them as sooooo comfy!

I would go for loose pjs or even those summer trousers, you know like MC hammer pants but not as baggy (I have no idea what they are called lmao). I wore a loose fitting jumper dress coming out which was a life saver, although looked amazing with my compression socks ;)

I found baggy/loose tracksuit bottoms were super comfortable for the journey home, but depends if it will be too hot for that...otherwise like others have said I spent weeks on end wearing loose waisted leggings. I hope you can find something comfy and good luck with the lap!

I didn't really plan a head for mine hahaha so I came out the hospital in jeans not done up. I just held them up. Walking round with a saggy jeans bottom 😂

But yeh honestly wish I'd just taken some lose PJ bottoms... Rocking out the hospital in some pusheen PJ's would have been hilarious.

Good luck.

Pj bottoms are your best best. I found even leggings too tight (it’s crazy how much you do actually bloat isn’t it!) good luck xxxx

If it's soon, how about a tent dress / maxi dress in a comfortable fabric and nothing on your legs? One less waistband to deal with! My last lap was in the winter and I think I did that anyway, a roomy dress with thick fabric and flat ankle boots I could stick my feet straight into on without bending over. My constant battle with endo belly means that I've got a wardrobe of dresses and tunics going that I can wear with maternity tights and leggings one size up in the winter.

Pj bottoms, nighties, floaty summer dresses (the ones which usually have a belt, just take that off), palazzo trousers (Matalan have some on sale and I like Amazon but check feedback obvs), elasticated summer trousers, go a size up, and keep them for your bloated / period days :)

I always say leggings and a big jumper or baggy t shirt, anything that doesn’t press down

I'm not sure where you stay but River Island sell leggings with a wee band I found are really good and comfortable and don't irritate my stitches, they cost £10. I'd initially been wearing loose, comfy joggies but I got fed up wearing them. I've had the leggings on over the last week and I'm 3 weeks after the op now.

Hi I wore leggings but rolled them down to sit just above my lady bits, also have a pillow to sit over your stomach and then fasten your seatbelt. Gives you that extra cushion so nothing is running against your wounds x

I wore very loose pajama pants. You will have large pads and bandaging there as well which will help. Make sure to bring a pillow to put between your abdomen and the seat belt to cushion any bumps in the road. During my recovery I wore overalls which were amazing!
