I was diagnosed stage 4 Endo 18 months ago. Had laparoscopy, went on Prostap and tibolone for 6 months afterwards. Things were fine afterwards but the pain gradually got worse and I went back on the injection in June this year. Went to see my gynaecologist in July who sent me for an ultrasound. I went yesterday and the Sonographer said he couldn’t find my left ovary and that my right was barely visible. I said was this due the the injection shrinking my ovaries? He said it could be a growth shadow?! Then that was literally it, he said results get sent to my GP and basically bye then! I left in a bit of a daze and now been worrying! I know last time when I had my lap my right ovary had attached to my appendix, so I am thinking that my left one may be attached or hiding somewhere? I have been spotting since having the injections (I’ve had 2) Im just worried now after he said that. Anyone else experienced this? x

Ultrasound couldn’t find ovaries?!
Hi, yeah I’ve experienced something similar. Suffered endo for 17+ years had 3 laps to treat and then a hysterectomy in 2016 removes everything including cervix which after being tested showed cin3 .. they left my ovaries due to my age. All was good for about a year then pain started to creep in again, recently suffered two episodes of excruciating pain in right abdomen which docs suspect is ruptured cysts!!! Sent for an ultrasound 5 weeks after the last episode and they couldn’t find my right ovary??? Which is where the majority of my pain is.. suffering pain in left side lower back and intercourse is so painful.. due to have a another laparoscopy in a few weeks to take my ovaries! If they can find my right one that is.. I’m sick of all this pain
Oh bless you sounds like you’ve been through a lot! So you don’t know why they couldn’t find your right ovary then? No further scans like a ct? I felt like I was just left a bit in limbo and want an explanation as to why it can’t be found x
Hi,
One of my ovaries wasn't seen on mri. I was distressed. I was told maybe I am missing one.
On lap it was found there were two ovaries but they were kissing, so it looked on scan that I just had one!
I found speaking to my Gp helpful at the time and they've seen it all so are usually able to reassure you.
That’s reassuring, my gp’s haven’t been all that good I don’t really get to see the same one, I do have a favourite and she is so understanding but my last visit I was told by a different doc that he didn’t believe my endo had returned and give him 6 weeks and he’d have me sorted with diet and mindfulness. I do suffer anxiety at time and do have low mood but think that’s due to living with this pain. I’ll let you know what the results are from my laparoscopy and maybe it will reassure you too Rae253.
I was due to have bowel resection during my hysterectomy due to POD endo but they removed nodule without to much damage! I’m thinking my ovary is hiding or fused with my bowel !
I personally think mood and anxiety is all looked to the physical problems we have. Pain, bowel issues, hormones etc.
Hope you feel better soon and get sorted.
Hi yes i had the same thing. When i had my lap it turned out both ovaries had stuck together. I didn’t find ultra sounds gave a true picture of what is really going on. Mine picked up fibroids but missed everything else.
My ovaries couldn’t be seen on my ultrasound but they said it was because I had a full bowel. Got sent home very upset as it takes ages to actually get these appts. Just keep badgering the gp for the results.
Hi, could they not have got you to empty it? I did actually really need to go to the toilet but held it in as I only really feel comfortable at home! Maybe that’s why mine was not seen too? I hope you get another appointment soon.
I have called my GP but they said it would go to my consultant first, so I am trying to get hold of them to chase the results x
Hi, interested to know what they did when they found out your ovaries were stuck together ? Did they separate them or just leave them ? I do feel like my right ovary has fused with something as every time I sit, stand or over stretched I suffer a terrible intense sharp pain, my bowel habits are all over the place and painful too.
It sounds like your ovary was moved from its location and it's hidden behind organs or wrapped in adhesions.
