Hi folks, has anyone found their period is disrupted after a laparoscopy?
I had my first laparoscopy almost four weeks ago (during my period). My next period now is three days late and counting (which is very unusual). I've done two pregnancy tests but both said not pregnant.
Thanks

Hey, yeah my cycles were a bit out for a few months. My specialist said to expect the first four months to be a bit odd as we're still healing plus the uterus doesn't like being moved around so kinda goes into shock. It takes a while for it to get it's normal hormones and cycles back, also depends on how much was done / endo removed. It also depends on when in your cycle you had your lap, as the delay of some hormones can result from things being operated on / near.
After about 4 months mine settled; different cycle length and different period length than before. Used to be between 26 to 35 days with periods about 5 to 7 days long. It's now exactly 28 days and period of 3 days, so it's brilliant.
If you don't get your period, it's nothing to worry about, sometimes it happens, sometimes its just spotting, sometimes it can be about 6 weeks (ovulation may have been delayed due to lap). If you are checking your basal temp and ovulation tests on an app continue with those when it suggests even if your cycle is out, it'll help with the next one. If you're really not sure then get in touch with your GP to have a chat, they may do a blood test, will probably just repeat your urine test though.
I had my lap in may and still no period however I get all the pains and cramps at the time I would normally have a period, I am extremely concerned but hospital don’t seem to care
