Laparoscopy healing

When I had my laparoscopy on the 13th June they went through my belly button but it just doesn’t seem to be healing, it’s already been infected so I’ve been on antibiotics for it but now at the top the skin just doesn’t seem to be coming together and it’s constantly oozing because it’s trying to come together but if I stretch it comes undone, just wondered if this happened to anyone else and if anyone one had any tips on what I could do so that the skin can come together?

You need someone to actually look at it. See if you can get an appointment with a nurse at your GP practice. They are generally much better with wounds than GPs.

Hi Jemma, I would go back to the GP/Nurse to get them to take a look at it. Mine became infected also, I believe it was because I was too cautious with it and cleaned it too much.. it took at least 8 weeks for mine to heal... the best thing I can recommend is bathing in salt water, also cleaning it carefully with salt water too. The nurse GP gave me saline, but it wasn’t really doing much but but the salt water seemed to heal it quicker. My stitches wasn’t coming out, but once I started with salt water they fell out within a week. Wishing you a speedy recovery and best wishes x

Thank you! I went to the walk in centre and they put honey on the bit that was oozing and then a dressing on and when I went back again for it checking it had cleared up loads so I’ve got another dressing with something on that helps with healing! I didn’t realise it could take this long to heal!x
