Laparoscopy and treatment together

Hi everyone,

I finally had my gynae referral and my consultant was lovely - and first time on this journey I felt like someone was really listening to me!

They have told me they will do the laparoscopy and if they find anything, deal with it there and then. Is this normal?

Everything I have read previously suggested you had a laparoscopy and then surgery later on?

It makes sense to do all at once but was curious to see if anyone has had it done like this.

They also said I would only need one week off work... I know it’s keyhole surgery but that doesn’t seem very long?

Thanks xx

I had my first laparoscopy 6 days ago and was told if anything was found they would remove what they could- which they did. I was initially told I may be back to work 4 days later if nothing found, however was given 2 weeks off as endo diagnosed and removed. Good luck!

Hi I had both done yesterday it’s quite common to do at same time. I had cyst and adhesions removed and was given 3 weeks off hope this helps.

Thanks! It makes sense to do it all once I guess.

Hey Hun, I had this on Friday, they found Endo and burnt it off at the same time so yes very normal! I have been signed off for two weeks.. Maybe ask for 2 as I’m still in pain and don’t think i’ll be ready (mentally nor physically) by Monday! x

Thanks. I think I will tell work 2 to be on the safe side. 1 seemed enough for just investigations - but if they’re cutting/burning whatever I’m certain I’ll need more to recover! X
