Still waiting for my follow up consultation which I assume I will discuss this in but as you can imagine I’m keen to just get an idea of what’s to come.
I’ve had my stage 2 endo removed now and just wondered what people did to prevent it returning and to manage future endo pain?
Thanks

In my follow up, they just did a general health examination (i.e. temperature, blood pressure) and my gyno examined my stomach and pelvic area to see if all was healing good (external examination). Then we discussed prevention and management with medication. I'm in Australia, so I was prescribed Visanne for 6 months that is supposed to suppress the endo and eventually stop my period for a bit and also help with pain. He didn't explain properly what happens after that, whether i go to gp to discuss going back on pill for contraception after 6 mths. I'm still confused about that part.
In my case I had been suffering from the endo pain for 2 years before lap, so he explained that my nerves have become sensitized to pain. I was still experiencing some pain in the 2nd week follow up appointment which I think was nerve pain so I told him and he prescribed me some stronger anti inflammatory meds.
He also recommended that I get a referral from my GP for the pain clinic in my city (which has a long wait list) to help with future pain issues because I may not be 100% pain free once I am fully recovered from surgery (I'm only 5 weeks post lap op and body is still not fully recovered).
After the 2nd follow up appointment he said I didn't need to make another appointment. He only said that everybody is different when it comes to endo so there is no way of knowing if the endo will grow back and/or when. He told me if in the hopefully distant future, I feel endo symptoms etc has returned, to give his office a call.
So for me I feel a bit uncertain about what my body will do in the next 6 to 12 months. Whether or not the medication will actually work and when after I am finished with it, what my body will do next. But at the moment I'm just focusing on trying to recover and trying to understand endo better and also trying to slowly transition back into a normal life again.
Good luck with your recovery! Don't forget to rest and take it slow for the first few weeks. Listen to your body.
