NSAID warning if TTC

Hi Ladies,

I thought this may be useful to share as I was completely unaware until recently. If you are trying to conceive please beware of using NSAID pain killers for your endo pain relief because they stop ovulation in up to 75% of women! This includes Naproxen (which I was prescribed for my endo pain) and potentially also standard ibuprofen although not specifically included in the studies I've read. Apparently there is no lasting issue so if you stop using NSAIDs your ovulation will likely return within one cycle.

I was was completely unaware of this until I did some research and when I questioned my gynaecologist he was also unaware. There are a number of studies published online if you want to look in to it.

I hope this helps anyone out there trying to manage endo while trying for a baby.

All the best!

Nat

This is true. I ride ovulation pain without any ibuprofen for this reason. I worry that if it blocks ovulation and prevents rupture of the follicle then it could end up as a cyst.. but mainly for TTC reasons.
