Hi I have my lap coming up and I’m not sure what to regarding my pain relief. I take liquid morphine everyday throughout the day and I’m not sure what to do on the day of my operation, I rang my consultants secretary and she said to bring it with me and ask but I no if I have not taken it I will be in absolutely agony by the time I get to the hospital and it will make the whole thing a lot more stressful. Did anyone else carrying on taking there pain relief on the day of there lap? Thanks
Any advice?: Hi I have my lap coming up and... - Endometriosis UK
Any advice?
I continued to take my pain relief however be wary that the hospital told me all I need to take is paracetamol!!!!!!!
Yes, take your pain relief with you. The nurse at my pre-op said it was okay to continue taking it. They will say to you take paracetamol for pain after op (LOL) but that's because that's the standard, you can just politely inform them your pain is severe and that doesn't work. It's your body and only you know how you feel.
Wishing you health and happiness!
I was on liquid morphine and slow release morphine. I took both on the morning of my op and I took them both to the hospital with me. I was told its fine to take them but just make sure you know exactly what how much you have taken in the 24 hours before your op and make sure when the anaesthetist speak to you that you tell them. I did that and it wasnt a problem at all. Xxxx
I was on naproxen and the occasional dihydricodiene when it was particularly bad before surgery, but they didn't know I had endo until the lap.
After surgery I was given morphine through the night as I couldn't sleep after it. The nurses told me the paracetamol was more to help keep my temperature down than it was for pain.
