I haven't posted before but I was wondering whether anyone can tell me their experiences being on prostap for shrinkage of fibroids.
I have a large one (approx 8cm) and the NHS say they can do keyhole surgery to remove it but I will have to have 3 months worth of prostap injections to help shrink it.
I really don't want to take the injections because they basically shut off the hormones. I was reading somewhere that some ladies hormones never come back on and they end up living with menopausal symptoms. I'm 39 with no kids but I do want one if there is still a chance. My fibroid is on the outside of my womb and is causing severe symptoms.
Has anyone had their fibroids removed after taking prostap? Any advice is welcome please.
Many thanks ladies xx

Hi I have had prostap for 6 months before my surgery to remove a big fibroid and endometriosis. Prostap helps with the bad period pains but then you get the menapausal symptoms like hot and cold flushes, migraines etc but you can take a pill for that to calm the symptoms down. I noticed less pain and bloating of my belly with these injections usually I look 9 months pregnant. I have had my surgery in November I think it did help a bit with my Endo but everyone reacts differently to it so it depends if it suits you. You will only know when you try. It’s a very small chance that your ovaries won’t come back on I was worried about this to before I had the injections. The consultant reassured me that it’s hardly ever happened when the ovaries have not come back on X
Hi, I had 6 injections would never recommend it, still having side effects after 6 years. I had my fibroids shrunk by embolisation. No hysterectomy. Was the best for me. No problems since. I went to another hospital to have it as no one had even mentioned I had a choice!
Please do as much research as you can on Lupron before making a decision. Look at the Facebook support sites and know it is chemo toxic.
God bless hope you get all the support you need. X
