I just wanted to firstly say how amazing this group is. Ive been suffering with endo symptoms for years. Finally got verbally diagnosed in 2017 when they thought i had ovarian cancer. My gp is useless (sorry to all the great drs) and i have finally got a hysteroscopy booked for the 29th of may. Am i right in thinking that in the mix of all they offer for treatment of endo. Nothing actually works and we all have to just get on and live with it until we are really really old??
Sorry for that big moan. X

Hi i have stage 4 endo I was diagnosed in jan 2015. I had major surgery for it in the August 2015 and this reduced my monthly pains and symptoms massively. Everyone is different but you need to go under a socialist endo consultant. My tubes were blocked so I had to go on to have ivf. Just doing my 6th go now. I will not give up.feel free to ask me anything xxx good luck
Thankyou so much for your reply. You def seem more understanding on this. Sorry to hear its had such a terrible affect on your fertility. Your right. You must keep going. How do you manage the pain? Im going to hassle my gp like mad until i see a specialist after ive had the hysteroscopy. Thanks for the advice. Xx
It a long time but now I have naproxen and zapain with my monthly pains. Before surgery nothing would touch it and I would roll around the bed and look like I’m on labour. It’s better but I still get tired and down about it. There is no cure sadly. Good luck and message me anytime xxx
Hi - sorry to hear all this and everything you’ve been through! I would definitely see another GP - you mention seeing a specialists after your hysterectomy but surely it should be before. A hysterectomy is a very permanent and extreme measure so I want to make sure you have all the information and options available.
In terms of endo treatment there are lots of options and levels - pill, injections, pain relief, excision surgery or hysterectomy which is the most extreme. It all depends on your endo symptoms - have you had a diagnostic laparoscopy to confirm it? Xx
Thankyou for your advice. Ive not been referred for a hysterectomy. Although ive asked a 1000 times for one!. I didnt know how to manage the pain at the time. But ive read so much into why they keep it in whilst you still have a monthly bleed. What i find hard to understand is how comes so many women suffer with the problem and there just isnt enough medical knowledge or research. 😔 how do u manage your pain? Have u tried turmeric?. Thanks again for your reply. Xx
I know it’s so frustrating seeing as how common it is yet so much still unknown! I am on the pill which really helps for me - but this can vary from person to person. Otherwise I find hot baths, pain killers, some light yoga and generally eating well makes me feel better. I find the pain is worse after drinking for me so limit a bit but still have to have some fun! I’ve haven’t properly tried tumeric but I think trying new things is a great idea.
Hi! I'm sorry you're suffering. I had a hysteroscopy 2.5 years ago - they fitted a mirena coil at same time. I had it removed as it felt like my body was constantly trying to push it out. They did not diagnose endometriosis from it. Fast forward to just over a week ago & I had a laparoscopy which found endo & I had it treated.
I'm new to all of this but I'm pretty sure they can't diagnose endo from a hysteroscopy as it looks inside the womb not outside - however in my experience it seems to be part of the pathway to diagnosis so they can rule out other causes of pain.
Hysteroscopy isn't as bad as you'd expect, my only tip would be to choose to have the local anaesthetic as I can imagine it being very uncomfortable if you don't. Good luck x
