Are my incisions normal?

Hi, I had a laparscopy about 4 days ago and I'm still in a lot of pain and get horrible nausea almost constantly. So I was if it could have anything to do with my stitches, as I have never had a surgery before so I don't know what normal stitches look like. I'm a bit worried as this was only a diagnostic lap but it has left me confined in my house for days now. All opinions and advice is greatly appreciated.

I had my laparoscopy 4 days ago too. I can't stand up straight yet but I've been walking around a lot today. I did feel sick last night but I've been OK since. I'm taking the plasters off later tonight so I'll let you know if mine look similar, yours does look really sore though

Looks like mine. Mine was done nearly 2 weeks ago, it does improve, 4 days is not really that long so don't panic. Keep taking the pain relief you've been given. Mines not healed but starting to look a bit better, slowly! Don't worry! :)

Hi lovely.

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling great.

Really they should have informed you of the recovery time and the process.

I had mine done last month and had endo tissue removed. Did you?.. if so the recovery time is slightly longer.

I couldn't walk for more than 10 minutes at a time until at least a week after my OP so don't be worried that you're finding things difficult it completely normal!

My navel incision got infected and that one in particular is more likely to get infected as it's not op open skin if that makes sense. If you're worried about s possible infection see your doctor. Funny smell, discharge ect.

Nausea is unfortunately normal too and may be down to the anesthetic as well.

Feel free to message me if you would like to chat.

Hope you're all healed soon. Xx

Hi, sorry to jump in but I'm having my first lap beginning of June and I'm incredibly nervous about the op/recovery time. You said your incision became infected...what did you have to do to get rid of it? Thanks X

Go to GP and they'll give you some antibiotics x

I've had a couple of ops and the pain and nausea are normal. It's a bit of a double edged sword; often the meds you take for the pain can cause nausea. If it's too bad, speak to your GP, there are meds they can give to help with that.

The stitches look good, as far as I can see. They will take a while to heal. Though they are small in length they are very deep, so give it a bit of time and if they cause you too much worry, again see your GP. Hope you feel better soon xx

I didn’t even look at my stitches for a week! Kept them dry and covered (washing was a nightmare!). Took me about 10 days to be back up and about and not feeling miserable to take it easy and be kind to yourself.

Thank you so much to everyone that responded, it really put my mind at ease. And I didn't get any tissue removed as they found grade 3 endo which would require a surgery at a clinic not my local hospital. But I really appreciate all the comments and it makes me feel better that this is normal for after laparscopy.

They look normal to me. I had similar symptoms to you. The only thing that could happen related to the incisions would be infection so keep an eye out for signs of that (warmth around incisions, fever, Foul smelling discharge from incisions, vomiting, etc). Just make sure you’re following whatever incision care instructions you’ve been given and STAY HYDRATED.

sorry to hear of your struggles, they look very normal, I was very surprised how rubbish the stitches made me feel for a long time, felt like i was being pulled from the inside with string, horrible. got doc to check my stitches and they were fine. they felt tight for ages then suddenly one day loosened up and felt much better, if they are dissolvable they will just flake away after time.just give your body time, use painkillers. take care x

They appear to be in good condition; nevertheless, following my operation, the stitches caused discomfort to the incision, necessitating the usage of medications for a week. After it grew infected with pus and other things, we went to the doctor. He found after an examination that the wound was infected and that the sutures needed to be removed and replaced with Ethicon ( pronorthmedical.ca/collecti... ), a different suturing substance. To this day, it has been a nightmare for me. After the sutures were replaced with Ethicon sutures, the wound began to show signs of healing.
