Hi ladies I had my laparoscopy 6 days ago and am still in a lot of pain which is really frustrating me but after reading some of the other posts it seems like this normal? I'm also desperate for a bath but don't know if I'm allowed to until the stitches dissolve?
Thanks a lot xx

hey, same thing happened to me on pain killers I didn't go for 6 days :/.they gave me lactulose which helped a lot.bathing should be ok will help sooth the pain x
You shouldn't have a bath for 14 days as this increases the risk of infection but I guessing from the times of this post that it is too late. I wouldn't have another one just to be safe. Freshly squeezed (not from a carton) pineapple juice (or pineapple) is a more effective remedy to ease constipation than prunes and I would be careful what you eat. Because I knew I would be constipated all I ate was mushy veg and vegetarian sausages so it wouldn't be hard for my digestive system and a lot of fresh juice and I didn't have any problems. Stay away from anything stodgy until you are able to go easily.
Hi Claire bear I would love to have a bath! I'm 11 days post op but my belly button hasn't healed yet so I thought it best to wait. I also have had so much pain it left me in tears! I had bad constipation, which a little lactulose helped with. My stomach is still bloated but cramps and constipation gone after just one day of lactulose. Hope u feel better soon, the first week is definitely the worst. Hugs x
Oops I had a bath last night and so far all seems ok but I will keep an eye on the wounds! The hospital gave me lactose but I couldn't take it because I am lactose intolerant
Hi girls, I have had 3 laps, first time I took things very easy, was stressed everything I did would cause infection, leading me to stiffen up, last time I took a bath with pure tea tree oil and lavender oil in it about 3 days after and then everyday for a while after that, the tea tree is a natural antiseptic and lavender to relax, I strongly recommend gallons of peppermint tea for the constipation and I take a spoon of psyllium husks everyday to keep regular!
Hey hun. I did after 4 days just a shallow one so it wasn't covering my stitches. Just he careful getting in and out. Hope your feeling a little better now x
I had my laparoscopy 4 days ago. I would absolutely LOVE a bath but am a bit worried that it’s a bit soon. I reckon 2 weeks is probably sensible. Having said that I don’t believe a bath qualifies unless it’s neck deep, piping hot and can be basked in for at least half and hour so perhaps there are different degrees of bath!! Constipation is definitely my greatest issue. I took lactulose twice a day since my operation am only just starting to see a result!
After my laparoscopy I had a follow up appointment one week later with a endo specialist nurse to remove sutures holding my ovaries up. She advised me to have a bath after a further few days to help dissolve my other stitches. I would say around 10 days as this is what I was advised. My stitches fully went after 6 weeks.
