I had my endometriosis specialist appointment yesterday I explained how I’d been feeling and he said yes you have endometriosis. He gave me two options the pill or surgery, I chose to try the pill first I haven’t been on the pill in years I got Yasmin it’s the only one that’s ever worked week with my body. I don’t know how I feel now. I thought a diagnosis would be through surgery and I’m glad to avoid that for now but I’m worried about starting the pill again and having those hormones in my body even if it does help with the pain. But will it even help the pain I’m not sure. Feeling deflated and just down about it all right now. Is that normal? Should I be happy I got the diagnosis and that the doctor believed me!

You're right, it's a good thing to have a diagnosis and to be taken seriously but it's also a very weird feeling to know that your body is misbehaving and not a lot is being done about it and the Dr isn't all that bothered.
I had a similar experience, I was offered painkillers or surgery. I chose painkillers. I also have to see him every 6 months to monitor what's going on.
I think it's so odd to be examined, find something massively out of place in your body but then to be left. My experience of doctors in the past has been, find the problem and fix the problem. To have no fixing happening is a very strange thing to come to terms with. Research and this forum is so good to try to understand what's happening but it definitely doesn't beat a doctor saying here's a cure, the pain has gone so you can get back on with your life!
I really hope your body responds well to the pill and your pain gets under control so you can go back your normal life.
Hi Blonde3,
I believe the pathway for diagnosis of Endometriosis is quite contentious and I have chatted to a few women on this forum and others who have said a similar thing. I had a laparoscopy on the 12th April and only then did my gynaecologist confirm it was Endo - prior to that it was speculative. She has put me on the Yasmin pill too. I could be wrong but I think NICE guidelines specify a laparoscopy should be given to confirm diagnosis x
