Anxiety?

Hello everyone,

I have noticed when I have a bad flare up of pain and bloating that my mental health is really bad. I have crippling anxiety.

Can an endometriosis flare up cause anxiety? Or is it more likely the other way around.

My anxiety gets so bad that I don’t want to leave my house.

Crippling cramping and sharp pains and this happens at any time of the month, not just when I’m on my period. It’s 100x worse when I’m on my period though.

No, on both my ovaries.

The one time I had a sharp pain on my right turned out I had a kidney stone.

Was that low right side

Low right but it was on my back not front. But for the kidney stone it was constant pain not in waves. Would faint and be sick with the pain.

I was rushed into hospital because of the pain and my heart rate was too high. They did a contrast CT scan

I have suffered with Anxiety from a teenager, but since being diagnosed with Endo and going through all the surgeries and medication my Anxiety seems to be worse. I would talk to your GP as soon as you can, dont let it beat you :)

Thank you. I use to be on citalopram with my anxiety but came off them and been doing really well without them. I have my consultation this month and will bring it up too.

They kind of go hand in hand. The nhs offers CBT for anxiety which you may find helpful, it’s about changing your way of thinking about the anxiety so you can manage it easier and hopefully in turn your pain will get better.

Personally I never had a major issue with anxiety until I got more sick and it has gradually got worse. I see a therapist weekly, so am doing something about it, she is fantastic and I love having someone non judgemental to talk to but it doesn’t lesson my pain. She agrees with me that my anxiety/mental health is worsened by the fact that I am unwell and constantly having problems which aren’t getting better.

Hopefully you can find someone to talk to - I found my therapist through MIND which you may have in your area and they offer low cost therapy tailored to you. Unfortunately my branch has now closed down due to funding issues but I still see her privately.

Hope it dies down for you soon xx feel free to message me if you want to

Sorry to hear you’re suffering. I too have anxiety and like a previous lady has said I see a psychologist every week and have found it to be so helpful. I’m just as anxious as before but I’m not as bothered about it and have the ‘tools’ needed to deal with anxious situations so much better. By the way you may find it interesting to note that when my anxiety is bad I cut out sugar because sugar can make anxiety and depression so much worse (if you google this you will find some scientific journals backing this up 😊) likewise caffeine etc.

I have found that once I cut sugar I return to whatever my ‘normal’ is much quicker xxx
