I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be during these strange times, there’s so much on my mind at the moment it feels like my head is about to explode. I was in hospital with an endo flare up and awaiting to see the specialist apparently it’s coming in April but I haven’t had the official letter which needs chasing up this week however, I had a smear on Wednesday 3rd feb where I told the nurse I have had abnormal bleeding but I’m not sure if this is due to the depo injection I started in September. Today I had to order some repeat medication and noticed that there’s an appointment added online from the nurse to call me the end of the month and reason says smear. Should I be worried? I can’t remember if I’ve had anything in previous tests saying it was negative or just leaving it as there was nothing to discuss. It’s sending my anxiety through the roof as much as I don’t want to think about it I can’t help myself - can anyone offer any advice?

you could possibly ring the doctor and ask for the results of your last smear test over the phone? the receptionists at my doctors surgery are able to do this. It might put your mind at ease? x
I had my first smear 3 years ago and they sent a letter out it said everything was normal. I’m just worried this phone call could be to say something different - I’ll call them tomorrow and see what they can do. I do suffer with bad anxiety so I’ll be doing my own head in more than anything it’s just breast and cervical cancer is on both sides of my mums family I’m not sure of my dads but his mum and sister both had a hysterectomy at a young age x
If it was anything like that they wouldn't leave it until the end of the month to call you. They possibly need to repeat the smear, result may have been unclear if you had a little bleeding
Thank you for the reassurance I just get worried because both sides of my family have told me to be careful- also with the pandemic I keep thinking maybe it’s that long because of those issues... mind just takes over sometimes so thank you for taking the time to comment xx
I would call them, but it sounds like it maybe a false test and need doing again as you do receive a letter with your results and that tells you if you have abnormal or normal results, but call as they can tell you results over the phone and then t least your mind is put at rest....endometriosis can cause bleeding inbetween periods . It could possibly be the note was to make sure you had your smear before then if it states at the end of the month to call you.
Yeah I thought it was just endo which was causing the bleeding but then seeing this I think my brain just went a little overboard I hate this anxiety especially when it’s something like cancer or potentially cancer. Thank you for your advice I will call the doctors tomorrow x
Thank you lovely and omg I know it’s such a joy stealer isn’t it? When I called the receptionist said oh they do phone calls now I don’t think the letters exist anymore she wasn’t sure and not up for discussing it with anyone to find out. The nurse is known for being blunt so I kinda accepted it and thought it’ll be what it’ll be in a couple of weeks. Thank you so much for commenting though you really helped me xx
