Hi everyone, this is the first ever online forum/group that I've joined, so please be patient with me 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I've recently been diagnosed with endometriosis and absolutely hate it. Really really struggle day to day and worse at the time of the month. Have a Male gynecologist who lacks very much in sympathy and am just so fed up of being a female in all honesty. I'm hoping to be able to pick up some hints and tips that might help me from here and to offer others support if I can. X

Hey Maisy!

You’ve come to the right place, everyone is lovely and super helpful! Recently been diagnosed myself, but have been battling the pain / symptoms for a few years!

For your male gynaecologist issue, i’d 100% say knowledge is power and lots of medical professionals have never necessarily studied endo or are experts... so become one yourself! This forum and endometriosis .org site is fab, also lots of great girls on Instagram if that’s more your thing. I personally really liked this podcast called “endo what” by conversations with pussy and found it helpful.

In terms of managing your symptoms / pain, try to track your period / ovulation where you can and your symptoms around it! I use an app called Flo and most of the time when I get pain outside of my period I’m due ovulation which flo tells me. The week before my period I stock up on feminax (for me the only painkiller that takes the edge off) and heat pads (Wilkos are the cheapest)! Do what you can to be prepared before it strikes and go easy on yourself :)

Hope that helps for now xx

Thanks so much for your advice. I do track periods etc and take feminax which as you say takes the edge off but the sheer inability to get out of bed for at least 3 days per month combined with trying to carry on with life as normal working in a very Male dominated environment is proving very difficult to cope with and adjust to.

Hi Lindle, it is slowly transpiring that the Male gyno that I mentioned, has told me some things that simply are not true. Eg he gave me a choice to either have kids or have a hysterectomy and that was it! I asked about a laparoscopy but he said that they are only a very temporary fix and each time you have one it is less and less effective. As it turns out a hysterectomy isn't the answer either and in fact there is no real answer as proved on here. I've asked to change gyno. 🤦‍♀️
