Hi hollymuzz

I have stage 4 endo too and I’m the same, my pain is worse after for about a week or two sometimes. No one seems to be able to tell me why but I think it may be to do with all the scar tissue. If you get any answers please let me know x

I don’t know the reason why but my pain was always worse directly after my periods finished too and my period pain used to only really become unmanageable on day 4 or 5 onwards 🤷🏻‍♀️

I read somewhere (though I can't for the life of me remember where) that because the endometriosis bleeds etc during the period your body then has to deal with all the stuff in your abdomen which shouldnt be there which sets up a second round of inflammation and pain once your period has died down. I would get a second hit of symptoms starting around day 7 when I've virtually stopped bleeding. Sorry that's so vague but it made a kind of sense to me when I read it.

Thank you ladies. I have a hysterectomy booked for Monday. I will ask my consultant if she has any ideas. My periods have become lighter and shorter although my adenomyosis was obvious and diagnosed via mri and visual confirmation with lap in July. Crazy x

Agree with above—the endometriosis implants bleed during your period, and the blood pools in your pelvis with nowhere to go. It take a while for your body to reabsorb and this whole process causes inflammation and pain. That was how my doctor explained it to me :)

Sorry you’re experiencing this and best wishes for a quick recovery and relief after your hysterectomy! xx
