I've been signed off by my 'specialist' as he claims I don't have endometriosis or he 'would've seen it on my laparoscopy' but I'm still in daily pain, which gets worse after intercourse or when I need to make a bowel movement. I was given a pill to take back to back to stop my periods but the pain only decreased a little.
On very painful days, I end up sat on the toilet at home (or in work) clutching my hot water bottle to a bloated stomach (I wear baggy clothing to work to hide it) and hoping my pain medication starts working faster. Trying to poop is super painful and sometimes (possibly cyclically) contains various shades of blood or 'goop' thats like sticky slime. This deep pain occurs whether I'm constipated or have diarrhoa - basically every bowel movement but in various levels of pain.
I've had alternating bowel movements like this since my symptoms began at 14 but they are getting more painful and I've only noticed blood in the last 8 months.
My doctors (and 'specialist') all say its just IBS and to take ibuprofen and fibrogel but neither of these stop the blood or the pain.
Anyone got deep/superficial bowel endo with these symptoms? Anyone suggest anything to help?
Thank you xxx

It’s sad and frustrating to read this. I feel for you. My view is that just because the endo wasn’t seen, it shouldn’t be ruled out as a diagnosis. Your symptoms fit. I was misdiagnosed with IBS but had endo on bowel aswell, so that shot that thought down! I think you should go for a second opinion. In the meantime have A look at some dietary books on endometriosis which have been really helpful. I really feel for you because I have been in exactly the same position as you and it is pretty awful. X
Hello, I have been having a lot of bowel issues and last saw my GP a few days ago who was floating around different ideas, she mentioned IBS but then said IBS doesn’t cause blood in the stool which is what I have been having so she wasn’t convinced. You mentioned that you have been having blood, if I were you I’d keep going back to the GP and kick up a fuss, my GP has now referred me for a colonoscopy to see what’s going on on there. Perhaps you should push your GP to organise one of these?
Im in the same situation as you where I get rectal bleeding but only on my period. Bowel movements are mainly constipation when due on and then the opposite a little after ive come on. I get mucus too. Ive had a colonoscopy which was clear. My lap waa also neg last March but my bowel and bladder were not checked. Ive been booked i for another lap in June to check these areas as she believes its in my bowel. Keep pushing on x
I’ve been having green thick discharge for about 7-8 years and over the past 2-3 years pain when I have s bowel
Movement but only at certain times. My periods are heavier than they have ever been. I have cramping and bad bloating but not everyday. I’ve had a laparoscopy which found adhesions from my second c section and they cut these. I’ve had a sigmoidoscopy and ct scan all have come back clear. I feel like they think it’s all in my head, I don’t know what to do now 😞
I’ve been suffering the exact same symptoms for a while now. The first GP I saw suspected endometriosis but a CT scan back in November showed diverticula so I’ve had 6 courses of antibiotics to treat diverticulitis, 2 admissions to SAU and Saturday I finally had a colonoscopy which showed no diverticulitis. I’m now awaiting a gynaecologist appointment to arrange a diagnostic laparoscopy. Basically I’ve been treated for something which has turned out to be a red herring!
I will say I started on a Low FODMAP diet about 10 days ago which my gynaecologist recommended and I have started to see some improvement in symptoms.
Hi I had my bowel shaved because there was endo on it, I don't think it had gone too far in luckily. I had mucus (tmi sorry!) and pain like I was being stabbed in the rectum, it was a different pain to the sharp stomach pain and the dull ache of the rib pain. The pain was worst when I was just due my period & vowel movement wasn't hard but excruciating. The stabbing pain eased after. I'd suspected endo on the bowel and my specialist, along with a bowel surgeon looked during a laparoscopy. I'd insist that you get a referral for diagnostics into the bowel area, bleeding isn't right. Was your surgeon a BSGE specialist? And if so what experience of bowel endo does he have? Keep a diary of the symptoms to see if it's all cyclical too. Don't give up and don't take no for an answer this is your life and you know your body isn't right. It's bad enough suffering when you know what the problem is but when you don't it feels a lot worse.
You should definitely push your GP for a referral/investigation into why you are bleeding. Could you have haemorrhoids? Blood from bum definitely not something to ignore. I have had very similar but I have haemorrhoids from pregnancy 😏
