Hi I went private for mine.

The waiting list; there isn't one, it's just as soon as the specialist you have chosen has a free appointment! Which can be in a week, or two, it's usually not over three weeks. The specialist will always see you first to talk to you and review your notes as your operation will be with him / her so they need to know you're happy with stuff. Quite often if you want a lap then they'll be happy to agree. You just book things in via their secretary when you want them.

Regarding specialists, research which center you want to go to and the specialists; you can do this on google and through the BSGE website. Main things to check is they are endo specialists and excision of endo (best removal method).

They may want to do additional blood tests; hormones, full blood counts, ultrasound - to rule out any other problems / know what else there could be.

I replied to Mummyneedstea post on "Costs of private surgery?" with the cost breakdown. It may vary a little but generally most are the same. You can search for that post.

You can get medical insurance through your work / partners work / privately (ask the center you like) / some center's do payment plans.

xx

private is very quick, thats the whole beauty of going private. Public is all about waiting lists and waiting and waiting. If you do go private you may want to get health insurance if you don't already :-) All the best xoxo

I went private as could not wait any longer on nhs 8 month waiting list for laparoscopy.

I had a consultation on a Monday and then my pre op assessment on the Friday and my laparoscopy was scheduled 3 days after Pre op. So all in all it took a week From start to finish 💛

I live in Northern Ireland. Our waiting lists are so bad. I have been on the waiting list 12months now for laparoscopy, with no sign of it happening anytime soon. I have give up on my doctor's- zero support. It's one big fat mess 😭 they just hand me co-codamol and expect that everything is fine.

Hope your experience is better than mine 🙉 X
