Does anyone know roughly how much a lap costs privately? I can't cope with waiting any longer

Spoke to specialist today about that. He quoted £1600 for superficial endometriosis and £4000 plus for deep infiltrating endo which he suspected i have. I spent all my money on fees for a MSc course so cant afford private, although waiting list is 9 months :/ which is quite long. So the fees depend a lot on the extent of the endometriosis

Why don't you go an see the surgeon privately first? It costs about 150 GBP. Afterwards they sometimes are able to give shorter waiting times on NHS. Ladies here have done that before. At least you can try.

If you call the private facility they should be able to get you an indicative quote - mine was around 5k you have to pay for consultant to do the op, anathestist, fee for operating room and fee if you are stAyong over etc

hi ladies, I'm thinking of going private too I'm in so much pain. It's disgusting though why we should have to pay, if they listened to us in the first place it would not take so long. I feel very let down. 😡😥If anyone is in the Hampshire area please pm me. Thanks.

I had my lap done privately and it cost around £3000. I agree with MinnieMinne, maybe go and see a gyne privately first and hopefully that may speed things up, my initial consultation cost £200. Xx

Thanks everyone so if I go for the private consultation what sort of things can they do? Would it mean they might be able to speed me up on the nhs or are there other things they say too? How do I get a private consultation?

You just call the private hospital where your consultant works. Agree a date. God and pay them. And talk to them that you are in massive pain and ask if they can speed it up for you. I have read here that some ladies have done that and it worked. Probably will not work with all hospitals and all doctors. In the same time - you will see that during a private consultation doctors have so much more time for you - to listen, to answer your questions.

I paid to see private consultant on thursday, he're referred me to endo clinic but waiting time on NHS is still 9 months. But its in Wales and waiting lists in Wales are horrendous. My mum offered to pay for me to go private today. Which is super nice but it makes me feel terrible. I'm 33 and having to rely still on my parents, i just feel so guilty :(

Don't feel guilty. I am a mother, I would pay for my daughter without hesitation, if I could afford it. You will pay back your mum with your love. She just wants you to feel better.

aw thanks, that has made me feel better. and quite emotional! i just feel i've been a massive drain on my family latley, put them through so much worry with my health. But i guess thats quite a common feeling with all of us especially as the road to diagnosis is so long. Thanks again for such a lovely reply x

Take your mums offer

It could be the difference between saving an organ you really need and waiting too long.

You will pay her back when you can
