Dealing with the pain

Hi all,

I have just been to see the gyno and referred for a laparoscopy which may or may not confirm whether I have endo. It feels like a major win as I have been back and forth to doctors since I was 17 with lower abdominal and pelvic pain.

I've been diagnosed with everything from Polycystic ovaries to constipation and IBS - which all turned out to not be the case with scans showing nothing or medication being ineffective.

The only problem now is that I'm really struggling with the pain and only told to take painkillers by gyno. Does anyone have any tips for how to cope with the pain?

I'm considering counselling but don't know whether that would be of any use?

Very much appreciated!

BB

Hi 😊 great to hear you've finally been referred for a lap! I'm in the same boat as you, waiting for my lap in January.

What painkillers have you tried? I tried paracetamol and ibuprofen for a long time before finally convincing the GP to give me something stronger and I've been taking tramadol for a while now which does help. I also find a hot water bottle and hot bath can help. I use stick on heat patches for when I can't take my hot water bottle with me. I haven't tried myself but I hear of a lot of people who've found CBD oil useful X

Hi, can you go back to your GP and ask for painkillers like codeine or tramadol?

I use to take codeine but now it doesn’t take the pain away, you have to watch as they are also addictive.

It’s a long journey isn’t it, it’s also a shock when you are told you need surgery especially if you were not expecting to hear that.

Please don’t suffer with the pain as it’s not normal x
