How long to wait for a referral appointment?

I was diagnosed a year ago via a lap. I then moved out of the area I was living in, and the hospital discharged me (they refused to refer me to a new hospital where I was moving to, and I was told I would have to go through my new GP.)

I did that in October, and I've not heard anything since. I spent all of yesterday chasing up with my GP and UCLH (where I asked to be referred to), and I've just had a phone call telling me the waiting time is 32 weeks.

How can it possibly be this long? My pain is getting worse every day, and I feel like I'm slowly going mad. I can't wait 8 months to see a doctor. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi, sadly NHS waiting times have been going up fast. But they do vary from hospital to hospital so one option is to ask your GP to refer you somewhere else. I imagine UCLH might be popular and therefore a longer wait than some. However you need to make sure it’s somewhere with an endo specialist.

That was my plan, I have a telephone appointment with my GP on Friday to discuss being referred somewhere else! But I do want to go to a specialist centre, so I know it might take a while, unfortunately.
