sorry in advance for the detail guys but need to ask someone as this has been playing on my mind.

I was advised by a specialist to take my pill for 3 months in a row to reduce pain during the periods. On Thursday I was due to take the 3rd pack of pills then have a period at the end. I began to spot on the Wednesday and Thursday so decided to stop and have a period before stating the next cycle of pill. On Sunday I passed a strange larger clot which was different to usual which worried me slightly as it was different to normal clots I pass. This period has been a little strange nut not sure whether its linked with stress.

Sorry for details but just been playing on my mind !

Thanks in advance !

I get big clots like that all the time, I was told they were nothing to worry about. In order for you to have a period the endometrium comes away in clots, and enzymes in the uterus and rest of the reproductive tract break it down and it comes out more blood like. If you have had a long cycle (and theres more endometrium about) or the flow rate is fast you can pass it before it has a chance to break down into smaller clots (this is how tranexamic acid works, it’s sometimes given to women with really heavy blood flow, it stops the clot breakdown so you pass it as a clotty material rather than a crap load of blood.) I wouldn't stress yourself out over it :)

If it becomes a new norm then mention it to a doctor (just because I’m instant every little detail is on my file as I am a complete control freak) however when you string pill packs together, it tends to become more common. Also I’ve noticed if I have really horrific cramps I am way more likely to pass larger clots. I spent ages worrying about it when it first happened to me as well, had a total freak out!

lovely thank you I will mention it next time. I have always passed clots during my period so I have been used to it but this one looked a lot different hence why i freaked out ! I notice the same, the worse the pain the bigger/ more clots I get !

Thank you for sharing your experience i feel a little less worried now! x

I've noticed a link between spikes of really intense pain and passing clots. Like you in the past I've been asked to do three packs of the pill back to back but would just start bleeding anyway around week 6-7. Just make sure you track any unusual symptoms and report back to your specialist :)
