How long have people waited for a laparoscopy on the NHS?

And what are people’s recovery time like?

Hey, I'm currently recovering from mine. I was only waiting about 6 weeks.

My consultant has given me two weeks to start with. This is my second lap and I had 4 weeks off last time. Then when I did go back I was told it was too early and should have had the full 6 weeks. Everyone is different and I think it depends on peoples jobs too. I've had more done this time than last time so I'm probably looking at the latter this time. Currently on day 5 of recovery now and I can move around admittedly very slowly, can get up a lot easier. I have reduced my pain medication and just take it day by day.

Hey, I waited about 4 weeks for mine. The last one I had I was back at work within a week, but others I have had took a little longer, depends on what your having done and how your body heals. Hope it goes well xx

I can't remember how long I waited for a lap - several months, I think? I was back at work two weeks later, but that was ambitious - I'd say it took just under a month to be 100% again.

I waited about a month for my lap appointment and I was signed off work for 2 weeks. I have M.E. and anaesthetic really messes my condition up. I had a lap 7 years ago and only had a week off. It really depends but I'd say really listen to your body and don't force anything xx

I'm waiting about 4 months for mine. I had one last year and it took me about 3 weeks before I felt 'normal' again X

I waited 4 months for mine, recovery was 3 weeks before back to work, 6 weeks before bruising, swelling etc got better.

Yeah the NHS is free for us here in the U.K. unless you pay privately at some hospitals which can help you be seen quicker compared to NHS waiting times which are like up to a year xx
