Need some help
Hi, I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by 'having a needle every 3 months'. It's difficult to know what to advise/suggest without knowing what you have had done, and what they found. Also, are you in the UK? What I say below refers to the protocol for Endo treatment in the UK - or at least England.
Can you say, exactly, how you were diagnosed - presumably a laparoscopy? Ultrasounds are not enough to diagnose Endo - it may show endo on the ovaries, but that doesn't rule out it being elsewhere in the abdominal cavity. Also were you told the results in detail: eg: what sorts/types of Endo they found in the abdominal cavity, and where the endo was, exactly? Also did they do any removal of the Endo tissue?
Certain types of Endo tissue (there are different types), as well as Endo tissue that is found in difficult to access, or deal with areas (such as stuck to the bowel) should not be dealt with by general gynaecologists doing a routine exploratory laparoscopy, but should be passed on to specialist Endo Centres (BSGE Centres) where it is dealt with by Endo specialists, with bowel surgeons on hand.
Mirena coils can help with Endo, although the success they have varies hugely from woman to woman: mine was great for me, but they make things worse for some women. As it is 2 years since you were diagnosed - assuming you did have a laparoscopy (if not, they still don't really know what they are dealing with!) I think another investigative laparoscopy is called for, just to check the state of the Endo. If there's nothing worrying they may put a coil in at the same time, but if the Endo is worse/has returned, or is of a worrying type, then you may still need to see a BSGE surgeon.
Your GP should know this protocol - it is clearly laid down.
You could also contact the 'Endo Soc' who 'host' this site - see link to the right.
Hope this helps.
Gritty.
I have had a laparoscopy i had it 2 years ago they found endo in my womb and i have been on the depo injection for about 1 year and a half now ive been back to the hospital they dont want to do another laparoscopy yet want me to try the coil but im unsure of what to do
Did they say what type of Endo they found in the uterus, and did they remove it?
Also, was there any endo in the abdominal cavity? - that's where it often is. It might be worth asking to see your medical records just to see exactly what was and wasn't found and done.
I would want to know more.
Currently, the treatment response times, as well the type of treatment given for Endo does not seem to be that brilliant for many women on here - yet the treatment guidelines/protocol is clearly laid down. I'm, bothered because many women seem to be having to wait longer and longer for their laps, when that is usually the main treatment for Endo. Mirena's can help, you might want to consider one, but tyr to find out more, first.
I really would talk to 'Endo UK': also there may be an Endo- Group local to where you live, there's one near me in Devon
Wish I could help more.
