Hi all, just wondering if feeling this rubbish is normal! Had laparoscopy 2 weeks ago which confirmed endo. They said there was a lot but they burnt? what they could and the rest was too near my kidney. They fitted a coil and I've to go back in 6 months. I've signed off work for 2 weeks and due to go back very soon but still feel horrendous. I've had to go for a sleep every afternoon, the migraines are unbearable and my tummy is still in so much pain. The stitches haven't dissolved and the ones in my belly button keep bleeding, feel sick all the time and now there's a nasty smell. Keep getting pains in my legs and bum too, is all of this normal? Not normally floored by anything cos there's too much to do but it's the migraines which are the worst at the moment, can barely function and feeling really down now :(

Get your wounds checked out by your doctor they sound infected, they can also sign you off for longer to recover. Hope you feel better soon x

It doesn’t sound like you are fit for work, I would go to the GP and get another sick line. Hope you start to feel better soon x

Hi Marie. I'm sorry to hear this. You poor thing. I agree: if your wounds are smelly infection needs to be excluded immediately. If the stitches are absorbable sutures, they can take quite a while to dissolve by themselves (which is totally appropriate if there's no infection). If there's any concern re infection you should have them removed by a nurse or doctor and treated with antibiotics if appropriate.

Migraine - is this a new symptom? Sounds like you've had migraine before? Migraine can be a side effect of stress of course but also can be secondary to hormonal treatments such as progesterone. The intrauterine device (Mirena(TM) coil) releases progesterone locally mainly but some does find its way into your blood stream (circulating progesterone levels in Mirena(TM) IUD patients are allegedly 66% lower than those measured in patients who are on the oral progesterone only pill) so the risk of triggering headache is lower I presume (everything else being equal) but not zero. Hope this helps
