When I had my coil fitted I did bleed for 3/4 weeks straight and now it’s just irregular again (like how it was before the coil) it definitely is one of those cases of it effects everyone differently xxx

I'm getting so much pain and I understand it's my last option but surely they can do something I'm scared it will become really heavy again and I'm so tired

When I kept bleeding I seen my doctor to prescribe me some medication to lessen the bleeding xxx

I had a very heavy period after my coil was fitted and then bled on and off for about six months. After the first month the bleeding was greatly reduced and so was the pain. I hope it setttles for you too.

It took a good 9-10mths for everything to settle down after I had the coil fitted, that said I didn't experience the kind of pain or bleeding you seem to be. Remember you've had a foreign object put inside you, your body has to accept it and get used to it. Unfortunately, it does take time to go through that process.

Like anything, the coil affects people differently, some get on well with it, others don't, but you don't know if it'll work until you try it. If it's really worrying you and doesn't seem to be improving anything after a few months, I'd go see your GP about it, they should be able to remove it for you. Then it's a case of finding something that does work for you.

Hope you feel better soon and it all improves xxx

I had an awful time with the Mirena coil (twice) but recently got jaydess fitted. It’s smaller and a lower dose of hormone so it’s not really been explored for treating endo. However, I ran out of options and even if it doesn’t help endo it would be nice to have a birth control I can tolerate. I have been bleeding for three weeks now (tranexamic acid didn’t stop it) but other than that I would have forgot it’s even there!

Tranexamic acid is something the gp can prescribe to help stop heavy bleeding. It would be worth seeing them to also rule out iron deficiency among other things.

Hi 8 wks post op and only stopped last wk. So hopefully u will soon it's very tiring isn't it.give it a try it's meant to settle in fee mths if doesn't by then u might av to consider removing it.best of luck xx

Hi Kayleigh, I had mine fitted in March. I was in AGONY for several days and then it came and went over the next few weeks, especially if I was active. I am still bleeding now and I’ve spoken to my gp who said its absolutely normal for the to happen for the first 6 months. I have to say that apart from the initial pain, since then I have had zero pain. So although it is annoying to be bleeding all the time, it’s great not being in pain!

Hey it's more the pain that's getting me down it hurts so bad no other contraception has worked so my hopes are low I mean at 24 I'm considering having it all removed as I know how bad it has gotten but the pain Is so bad and I bleed everytime I'm active even though the guy doesn't mind I've never been so embrassed and it's not the normal colour I'm trying to keep it in as I understand what happens if it comes out just so fed up tbh x

Oh you poor thing. I find the blood is often brown rather than red. Apparently this indicates that it’s to do with your body healing after the coil insertion, but I’m not 100% sure of this. I did find I was in pain a lot for the first month, but it did gradually decrease over that time. By 6 weeks I was only getting niggly pains every so often. So if it’s gone over a month and you’re still in pain most of the time, I would defo get checked out as it could be that the coil has slipped and is trying to get out. It’s not normally dangerous but can be extremely painful.

Sending hugs to you xx
