I'm new here & looking for hope & other ladies experience! I was diagnosed with endo 8+ years ago after pain made my life severely limited, first surgery 2010 resulted in first pregnancy at 36 all good & thankful for my pain free motherhood. Pains started to return & had surgery in 2016 which found & treated more endo but not got as bad as first time. Few months later not huge improvement & started to bleed more then flood - badly, along with irregularity! I am now on Transexmic Acid which makes the flooding more bearable but still not easy to deal with. Other pains have surfaced like when I have a full bladder or bowel which is just relieved by emptying also aching/bleeding after intercourse prompted further tests with ultrasound. It turns out one ovary has stopped producing follicles, the other has a handful of eggs causing irregularity & I have a 3-4cm fundal intramural fibroid which is the probable cause of the horrendous bleeding. Consultant has arranged myomectomy surgery to reduce fibriod but she didn't sound positive & wants to implant a coil to stop bleeding, I don't want this though as I can't see how it will help the pressure on other organs & pain after sex. Has anyone had a similar experience? I am now leaning towards a hysterectomy, am I mad or hopefully going to improve my life?

Sorry, Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and removal of ovaries and Fallopian tubes xxx

I'm in v similar situation as I've got severe endo and 2 fibroids 1 intramural and the other one outside. I assume they'd do a myomectomy same time as excision and was shocked that they've been left as don't seem to be causing a problem! God knows how they got past the intramural one when fitting my coil..

I'm not convinced the coil will stop the bleeding & pain, how did it affect you? I definitely would say that it would not have helped before my first endo surgery but unsure how it will affect the fibroid xx

I’ve also got endo which I got diagnosed with 15 years ago and I’ve had my myomectomy and laparoscopy to remove my 2 fibroids one intramural and one external, 3 weeks ago. This laparoscopy has been my 4th one, due to repeatend endo lesions. I’ve had nearly exactly the same sympotoms you’v had, pain just before bowl movement, through intercourses and the presssure. Even I know I had fibroids I had put it down to my endo as I’ve had the same symptoms the other 3 times when I needed a laparoscopy. My gyno has inserted the Mirena coil which I know from last experience will help me to reduce my bleeding. And she also said that removing the fibroid will reduce the bleeding considerably and I guess with your gyno saying reducing the fibroid that your dr is removing as much as possible. I can already see a difference, as before my op I had been bleeding for over 5 weeks. And that at times very heavily/flooding but after my op my bleeding has only be very light and from what I can tell the pain has already reduced, well apart from the wound pain. It’s now been 5 days with no bleeding.

I think it depends also on your circumstances, regarding having a hysterectomy. For example my mum had a hysterectomy due to a intramural fibroid when she was mid end 40th as he had kids and her menopause had also started...

Hope you his helps, sorry for the essay.

Thank you, I am just fed up with the constant not knowing of volume of bleeding, I want to be able to take my boy swimming again with confidence & not carry half of the sanitary aisle & the Tranexamic Acid around most days. The pain is totally bearable compared to my original endo pain but it does affect our closeness in our relationship. Xx

I totally get what you mean, I’ve been carrying everything around for month and never known when my bleedings start again. I’ve also been told that the fibroids affect our hormonal levels which can add to issues with a partner. I think we are so used to just get on with it that we forget about things like hormones... Xx
