Fibroids
It sounds fairly drastic but I take it you're being really disabled by them? They are caused by hormone imbalance so I'm guessing the thinking behind this is that giving you chemical menopause will address this. Have they fully explained how it will work, the possible side effects and long terms effects of it? Really you need to know all this before you can make an informed decision. So often the Dr's don't really explain things and we're left feeling a bit lost about it all.
Do you know how they'll do it? What they'll give you? Lots of people in here talk about the cross types of drugs that create a chemical menopause so it might be worth searching if you know the name.
There are also more natural ways to balance hormones. I've only just started this so I can't say personally how effective it is not I've read promising things.
They haven't said much injection each month which will stop my period and give me patches so going through the menopause i am just worried I have terrible pmt each month and don't want to end up like a phsyco I'm scared x
The pmt will be caused by your hormone imbalance too.
I guess it's just going to be one of those things that carry a bit of risk - it may improve things but also it could make things worse. If you find it the name it might help give you an idea what to expect.
Ok I'll ring hospital tomorrow it was something pro i think x
Hi, I was out on prostap injections for 6 months from last December whist awaiting a hysteroscopic myomectomy. I’ve not had a good experience on it unfortunately, I suffer from awful hot flushes, I’ve put on about a stone in weight and my boobs have doubled in size. I really hope it’s different for you. I posted about how my op went in a different post so you might want to check it if you’ll be on prostap.
Thank you they didn't say much I really don't won't to take them if I got to go thought it all again I just wish they would give me a hysterectomy x
I had Prostap for 3 months before a hysterescopy to remove a fibroid. The first month was fine with no side effects but by the third month I was having awful hot sweats and just felt generally rubbish. However, my fibroid removal was successful with no excessive bleeding so the Prostap must have done it’s job.
A friend of mine had 10 fibroids removed successfully at a private clinic and did not take Prostap before so it might just be a NHS protocol...
I wouldn’t take it again but if I were you I’d ask my doctor if I00% need it and go with what they advise.
Hi, do you mind me asking what hospital your friend used to remove her fibroids? I ask because the NHS are telling me that I have to have 3 courses of the prostap before they will remove mine and I really dont want to go through forced menopause if it's not 100% necessary. I'd love to speak with a surgeon who can remove it without the injections. Thanks in advance....
Thank you x
I am on my 4th injection of Prostap after trying Uterine fibroids embolisation which never worked for me. The injection did stop my period for 3 months, but now i am bleeding again.
