Lap might not happen today!

Still 2 people before me and theatre closes in an hour... might be sent home! This happen to anyone else

It happened to me on 16th April 2018. I have another appointment for 27th April now.

I sat in the short stay surgical ward for 5 hours. Before my operation was cancelled at 5:20 pm. I was told that my surgeon could not operate after 5:30pm.

I didn't lose my temper I was very calm with my surgeon. He looked very worried about telling me.

I was told that there was complications with the first two surgeries . That they were very sorry they ran out of time. I didn't lose my temper because it could have been me having the complications and someone else could have had their surgery cancelled. Karma is a bitch. It's very frustrating but there is nothing that I could do. So I excepted it, asked the surgeon not to make me wait too long as I was in a lot of pain. Then I moved on. The next morning I had a phone call from the hospital and I was given another surgery day. I am first on the list this time so I was informed.

If it does happen and you are having your operation on the NHS. Then another appointment has to be given to you within 28 days of your cancelled surgery or the hospital have to pay for you to have the operation done again else where.

Yeah happens to me I was sent home at half past 4 , but if yours is cancelled they need to do laparoscopy within 28 days , that’s nhs lothian not sure if it’s diff anywhere else , hope you get your lap! Fingers crossed for you x
