Ladies I have recently been diagnosed with a small Endometrioma cyst on my left ovary in March I’ve been told straight away even though it’s small I need laproscopy.
I’ve got a gynaecologist appointment for 24th April which they will book me in for a pre op that day as well.
Question !!?? Loads 😭
After pre op assessment how long could I be waiting for laproscopy?
The cyst is only small because causing a lot of difficulty for me from nausea to diarreah constipation lower abdominal pain, hip pain and lower back, thigh ache, fatigue, January I had a black period, and 2 weeks later had a greyish sack fall out of me 3 day period.
Now no period but pain.
How long does the actual op take to perform? If there removing and testing ?
How common is this for a 23 year old 😭

I can't answer all of your questions other than I have the exact same thing, and it causes me all kinds of problems so I am actually looking forward to taking it out! The wait varies hugely on where you live/are having surgery done and by which surgeon (an endometriosis specialist is advised rather than a regular gynaecologist). My cyst was found last June and I am expecting my surgery this June so my wait has been huge and I've had to resort to medication plans with my GP in the meantime to manage the pain and discomfort. I also take the pill without breaks to try stop the cyst from growing. It is really quite common and you'll find lots of us out here in the same boat so please don't feel alone - some of the other ladies will have answers to your other question about surgery, everyone is super helpful xx
It’s better out - waiting time in my area is 6 weeks. I basically had that and was not symptomatic- 2 years later. I have stage iv endo. Get it fixed and get on your docs case
6 weeks 😩 My private consultation was in September and she popped me on her NHS list and I'm still waiting - the ward was closed during winter crisis so around 4 months of ops were cancelled so I guess my extra long wait isn't the norm.
I can’t have certain pills I can have only have deaocongenstral because the pill makes me throw up and I get constant nausea makes me feel awful.
Funny enough I’ve developed the cyst whilst o the pill that I am on. I don’t understand how the pill is supposed to mange the pain in that sense I can only do what what I can
I had my laparoscopy a few weeks ago, and it was NOTHING like I saw in so many articles in google or vids on youtube... I was SO FREAKING SCARED, but at the end it was a much easier journey than I expected.
About your waiting time after the pre op assesment, it shouldn't be long, but it depends on many factors, from the degree and urgency of your case to your hospital policies.
The actual op can last from 1 to 3 hours, depending again in the degree of your endo. Mine, for example was a stage 4 endo, with a huge cyst on my right ovary (About 10cm) and another one on my left ovary not as big (About 3cm). And my surgery lasted 1 hour and 45 min.
Sadly it is a very common condition among us sisters, but don't worry, seriously, the recovery time is fast and you are young and strong!
One thing I would recommend you is, stay away from google and youtube... Trust your doctor and be confident that everything will be great. This is just and obstacle and is not as big as you may think.
I send you the best vibes and take care of yourself, give yourself some love, pamper yourself, meditate, eat well, and follow your doc's instructions
Thank you for the support ! I’m new to this forum also really nervous about this forum and slightly uncomfortable but it’s aamzing the amount of support you can get from amazing women across the world with the same condition. It’s nice to actually feel your not alone
My story is similar to yours (I am 24) so hopefully will help answer some of your questions.
Last June/ July 2017 time in a ultrasound scan they found two chocolate cysts (one on each ovary)
I then saw the gynaecologist in August - my pre op wasn’t until Feb 2018 .. I then had my operation March 2nd 2018 ( they usually do the pre op within a month before your operation so everything is still the same eg medication, blood etc )
My operation was about 3 hours .. but just like a lovely deep sleep! During the operation they removed both the cysts and done a hysteroscopy.
I am now on Zoladex to put me into menopause- to prepare me for the next operation in 6 months time to remove all the other endometriosis they found.
Last year after finding the cysts I took Loestrin 30 which stopped my periods as I took it constantly for 3 months and then had a week break for a period. Might be worth talking to your GP about something like that?
