Is it normal to have wound pain a month after laparoscopy?

Hi everyone! I’m new here. Great to see such an active and supportive community. I had laparoscopy surgery over a month ago, (end of February). My wounds were healing but had ongoing nerve pain. Until this day I still feel pain around the wounds (left and right) mostly stinging and pulling. I was wondering if this is normal and if anyone has experienced it as well. How long did it take for your wounds to heal?

Hi! I believe this is normal. It took me about 3-4 weeks to recover enough to be able to lift a washing basket. I was very tender for the first 2 weeks. After the 5 week mark I was fine and healed well.

I will suggest to go in with an open mind about healing time. Take the time you need, soon you'll feel better. Take care!

Hi Karinyaa thanks for your reassurance. I am 7 weeks post op and am really worried that my wounds are still burning/stabbing. I really don’t understand. It was getting better now it’s worse. I think I need to be a bit more patient, as I have been walking a lot and trying to get back on my feet. Maybe too soon?

I had a sore wound after my second laparoscopy; it was red and very painful. I had to take prescription painkillers . I saw a nurse practitioner about a week ago and was prescribed antibiotics; it turned out two stitches hadn’t dissolved and were underneath my scab which caused a ragging infection. If in any doubt get a nurse to look at the wound. Better safe than sorry xoxo

Hi Jess! Thanks. I did have an infection but that was cleared in February. I am just having burning/constant aching pain at both incisions 7weeks post op. Since you’ve had two laps, does this seem normal to you? I’m checking with my doctor tomorrow.

I would honestly get it looked at by a medic: when I was that far post lap I had no pain at all from any incisions: the only pain I had was from my wound infection which happened very soon post surgery. Sorry you went through that too not nice after surgery.Good luck with it xoxo

It took me ages to recover after lap, way longer than everyone said. I still had soreness next to my belly for months after (I think they tore a nerve or muscle). Be kind to yourself and make sure you rest until better xxx

Hi! Yes, I feel like it is taking ages. But thank you for your words. I have soreness on the right side of my abdomin, my doctor said the same- it is probably the muscle. Yes I’ve probably been walking too much. I will rest until the pain is completely gone. Thanks for your response, it helps.
