Question in the title really. I am having that denial/fraud stage where I'm feeling like oh no it can't be endo I'm just being a princess blah blah. Now worried that my MRI will come back clear and they won't give me a lap! Sigh...

A lap is the only true way of diagnosing endo. I won't worry to much if the MRI won't show anything. My endo has never shown up on a MRI x

thank you :) I'm still not 100% sure why they are doing an MRI AND surgery?

They could see deep infiltrating endo on a mri but not always.

I had a clear MRI and still went ahead with the lap - I was then diagnosed with endo and adhesions. The MRI is considered useful as it may show up something significant and it's helpful for the surgeon to know about this in advance - but not essential and it certainly doesn't show you everything!

My MRI was clear apart from fibroids I felt really deflated as I was certain it was going to show up because of all my symptoms but as lovisa said it doesn’t always show up. My lap is booked for 21st May. When things come back clear just remember the pain and symptoms aren’t in your head and there’s a reason you’re having all the invasive tests to begin with.

Hugs x

hi.hope you are having a good day.

I had an MRI before having cysts removed. It was 'clear' of any indicators of deep infiltrated endometriosis. So I was in shock to be told I have some of the worst endometriosis he's seen ( high praise from a bsge specialist!). He said it shows even with his vast experience that you can't relie on scans as if it wasn't for the large cyst he wouldn't have been keen on doing a lap from such a normal scan. He is an amazing surgeon and I'm pain free, but it shows scans don't always show things up and lap done by endometriosis specialist are needed for anyone suffering from this horrible disease.

don't be told your a princess, looking back I had signs of endometriosis but dismissed them which is how it ended so bad you know your body i certainly wish I had listened to mine more!

good luck 😊

I've always had pain with periods and after having our daughter it became worse. I was rushed into hospital, they thought I had a ruptured appendicitis but they found a large chocolate cyst that had a slow rupture. From then on I was in constant pain, taking 27 tablets a day. Some days the pain in back would be so bad I could hardly get to the bathroom. I had to wait 9 months for the second surgery but it was worth it. It wasn't till after that I realised how much pain I had been in, my hips and tummy always hurt and felt full which would have been caused by the frozen pelvis.

when I was originally taken to a&e they kept trying to send me home but I knew something wasn't right and made a nuisance of myself till something got done and I was right, we know are bodies and if something isn't right.

my ca125 was 2246, all panic station emergency ct scan and thankfully it was down to the endometriosis but it was a an awful stressful time as we'd been told to prepare ourselves for bad news.

what symptoms do you have? Xx
