Hey everyone, hope everyone is all good...

I have my lap 11th April, my last one was cancelled so fingers are crossed for this one... the more I’m reading about laparoscopy, I have a feeling my endo is in my bowel , do they check your bowel when getting your laparoscopy? X

Hi Lola

I have endo on my bowel and during my last lap my surgeon managed to remove it because he's also a bowel specialist, but sometimes if they find it on your bowel and the surgeon isn't necessarily a bowel specialist (because the bowel such a delicate area and carries more risk), they would likely not remove it, and later refer you for another lap with a specialist.

It sounds frustrating but if that does happen, it's better than you're in the correct hands of someone who is skilled to do that job.

Wishing you all the luck with your lap xx

My surgeon did say that to me in my last app they would remove wats there as long as they have the correct surgeon i didn’t actually knew wat he meant , my surgeon is an endo specialist as they sent me to see endo specialist before surgery and it was him I seen before my op was cancelled well it was actually him that came and told me it was cancelled... thansk for your reply. X

That’s great you’re under an endometriosis specialist they can treat even complicated endometriosis. I expect you will have a bowel specialist surgeon on stand by during your laparoscopy- that’s what I’ll be having next. xoxo

I do hope so... 🤞 and I do like him he’s so down to earth sometime’s u can feel pretty nervous speaking to your surgeon , he made me feel at ease too wen he came to tell me it was cancelled he said this is the worst part of my job and he offered to make me a cup of tea while waiting for my parents.. it makes that bit easier when going for op... xx

Aww that’s really important to trust your specialist.I have that relationship with my fertility specialist he’s such a lovely man always knows how to make me feel at ease. xoxo

Hi, my understanding is that during a lap they look at the outside of your bowel to see if it is affected by endo. However if there is a chance that it has penetrated the bowel and is actually inside then you’d need another investigation (probably a colonoscopy). After the lap your doctor will tell you if they think that’s necessary.

Both my laparoscopys my bowels were checked. My endo is in pod and both times some was left as it was in my bowels,as it returned quickly I’m being refered to a endo specialist who works alongside a bowel surgeon. My endo is a complicated case- I am prone to period blood flowing backwards and creating more endo implants.

Do double check with your gynaecologist that they will look at other organs not just pelvic ones as endo doesn’t only grow there.

Also a general gynaecologist will not be able to remove endo that’s too close to your bowels, you will need an endo specialist

Good luck for your lap and if you have any questions on it feel free to ask xoxo

I will be sure to ask wen I go in i know my surgeon is an endo specialist I haven’t spoke to them about my bowels well I think I may have endo in bowel but the more I’m thinking and read all my symptoms it does sound endo in the bowel .. Maybe should have mentioned it before now , 🙈 xx

Not in mine! My lap came back negative for endo and he said “it’s probably bowel issues” when I asked if he checked any of my bowel he laughed at me. 🙃 xx

Hello Hun! I just had my lap three weeks ago! I had endometriosis all over the place bowel, bladder even in my kidneys! I waited for almost 2 years to be seen by endo specialist ... my lap was done by the endo specialist and the colorectal specialist whom will be checking out your bowel and see if there is more complications .... luckily in my case they were able to remove all endometriosis from my bowel without cutting a part of it! They did an amazing job and now I am waiting to see if my symptoms are going to disappear for longer than the last two laparoscopies I had! All the best and good luck with your op! Xxxx
