Currently sat at my desk at work crying to myself because I’m in so much pain...

I’ve done the normal thing taken Pain Killers having a cup of tea even got a heat pad on and I’m not even on my period...

And the cold outside doesn’t help

Anyone got any ideas on what else I can try or do to subside my pains ?!

Sorry .. just needed a little moan

Aw I'm so sorry your feeling this way, I know it's tough. I'm on prostap at moment and I feel so unwell and have heart palps an anxiety. Trying to work but it's tough when you feel crap. I too use a hottie water bottle. Apart from coming home to lie down I can't suggest anything for u but for u to know you have my empathy. Is it yoyr period or endo or something else causing the pain?

xx

I’m not on my period yet and I’m waiting to have my Laparoscopy on the 21st to tell me if I have it or not but my doctor believes I do because we’ve done all the tests for everything else... my periods are/have always been irregular so never know it’s coming till it’s here I’m started to believe it might be coming soon but I even have theses pains before and after it when ever it does decides it wants to stop... I’m also dead nervous about my lap in 19 days so I don’t know if it’s the normal plus my body ready to start having a period plus stress...

Thank you for the advice and sympathy ❤️xx

could be stress that’s causing additional pain, I had that before my lap and a few weeks before my doctor actually ended up signing me off work, could that be an option for you?? Xx

My work isn’t a very stressful job but has its moments where it’s just crazy and being a supervisor personally makes me think I can’t/shouldn’t take unwanted time off.. (if that makes sense to you)... work know I’m going in my a Laparoscopy soon and are kinda Supportive and we are trying to set up a plan on what to do when I come back to work after the two weeks recovery time.. Im a workaholic because need to pay them bills and doesn’t help that we are under staffed so trying to sort out all the stuff the two weeks I’m off so it’s not to much hassle and work ... (sorry for the ramble)

No that’s absolutely fine! Everyone’s circumstances are different, just try and take it easy, keep your stress levels down with regards to worrying about your lap, distract yourself and if you need to, be selfish, take an extra break if you just need to stretch your legs etc! You’re lucky you have such an understanding work! Best of luck for your lap! X

Hi Kirstie. Has your doctor prescribed strong enough pain meds? As a previous poster has said, hot water bottles and a bed (plus pain meds) are the only thing I’ve found that help. I’ve got some tips below for your laparoscopy:

You’ll need:

At the Hospital:

• A loved one (ideally) for emotional support

• A phone for extra support / entertainment

• Something to read (book, mags, newspapers)

• Loose loungewear / PJs. Something simple and comfortable to put on when you leave the hospital.

• A pillow for the car journey home (to sit between your abdomen and the seat belt).

At Home:

• A bed made up downstairs, perhaps on a sofa, with entertainment to hand: remote controls, books, mags, films.

• Things to help release the gas buildup from surgery and the ensuing constipation. Try psyllium husk, Milk of Magnesia, mint tea. Avoid bananas and other constipation causers.

• Ensure the fridge/freezer is stocked with healthy, easy-cook meals before you go into hospital.

• Have someone around to cook for you for the first couple of days at home (if possible).

• Have hot water bottles and pain meds to hand. It can feel tender and sore.

Good luck! x

Thank you very much for all this advice give. I he has only given me a higher and stronger pill as I’ve got Ibuprofen Co-Codamol Co-Decimal Naproxen in the houses medical cabinet at home.

My Mum and Boyfriend are taking me into the hospital. And will both be looking after me..
