I have been suffering with severely heavy periods, tiredness etc for many years. It has got worse recently and I finally visited the doctor. Ive been for a scan and found that I have polyps and I am going to have a laparoscopy to remove them.
Has anyone else had a laparoscopy for the same reason? To say I'm bricking it is an understatement. Since the birth of my 2 children (both of which were horrific) - I am petrified of surgery, so it doesn't help with this in my mind.
I'm just wondering what pain i should expect. What is the general surgery like? I have a 5 year old & a 3 year old and worried about caring for them after. And finally, how long did people take off work? I work in an office, and it is not a strenuous job in the slightest.
Eeeeeeeek, I'm so nervous - i don't even have my appointment yet and I'm scared. It'll be a nightmare when it comes around.

Hey I’m sorry to hear you’re suffering so badly. I’m having a laparoscopy tomorrow afternoon to find and treat endo I will be posting about my experience and pain the days after. I currently don’t work so I don’t have to book any time off but I’ve heard it’s mostly around two weeks to be up and about but it’s different for everyone and depends on your job but if you’re sitting down office job two to three weeks post op I seen has worked with people. Hope this helps xx
I had a lap yday. It was a long day better not to drink or eat for 12 hours before the op to avoid sickness from anaesthetic. When u wake up your just groggy if you have any pain tell the nurses they get morphine into you really quickly. But to be honest lap really isn’t bad You will feel sore. I am sore today I only did it yesterday but I’m not in pain pain. You will feel pain in your shoulders and around your chest and ribs this is from the gas they pump into you. The cuts r very small and you’ll be walking later in the evening depending on the time of your lap. Again just sore and stiffness around the belly and shoulder pain from the gas. You’ll need to rest properly first few days but you’ll be up and walking around the house like I was today. If u feel pain take pain killers I’ve been taking ibuprofen 400mg one in the morning and one before bed. Again only on day 1 and it can only get better from here. Be strong you’ll be ok xxxxx
