I’m only 27 so really don’t want one yet but have read the endo can grow even if you have a hysterectomy! So something to bear in mind

Yea well I did not think that I would be told it was my best solution. I’ve had my kids luckily.

I've had one - it really depends on so many things. Removal of your uterus alone is only advised if you have adenomyosis. If you have endometriosis it needs to be excised at the same time and if ovaries are left in place the disease may well still return. I would say get a second opinion and if you have bowel/bladder disease ask for a referral to a bsge accredited centre. A hyst can help if carried out for the right reasons. x.

I didn't really consider a hyst until I was told that it is highly likely that I have adenomyosis. I have had extensive endo elsewhere which I have had four laps to treat and various hormone treatments but it just keeps returning. I am 43 and do not have children, feel ready for it now but not an easy decision and I would see it as a last resort trying other treatments first if you haven't already done so and especially consider it if you also have adeno. It also depends on your age, severity of endo and whether you want children. Do a lot of research and perhaps talk to more than one consultant to talk about your individual circumstances at a BSGE endo centre. If you have both ovaries out at the same time as hyst which I am considering, there are a lot of health implications including risk of osteoporosis and heart disease to take into account. I am currently weighing up the pros and cons of this. I hope it all works out for youx

Thankyou. I do definitely need to research as much as I can b4 making a decision also because once it’s done it’s done and also the huge medical cost of it
