Pill Question

Does the pill only help endo symptoms if it stops your periods? I still get regular periods and would ideally like to come off the pill and after a negative lap, now seems like a good time. I'm still in some pain, but I've been on the pill for 4 years so can't see how it would be more painful off it but you never know. Does it help in more ways than just stopping periods?

Hi katecurlyfries

I've read that the pill helps in endo by reducing growth of endometrium the lining of the womb) - not just by stopping periods.

Hi Kate

It’s my understanding that it has to be back-to-back pill for endometriosis. So no break between tablets/packs. This also means that if you’re on one of those pills with the 7 dummy pills, then that’s not a back-to-back pill for endo. I would check with your GP about the pill you’re on as they should be able to advise on this.

Hope this helps x

What Rach said. You need to be on a back to back pill like cerezette which has no break through bleed. That really worked for me.

I'm on cerazette but still bleeding regularly on it, and it's honestly been the pill from hell for me. I'm going to the doctors in a minute to see about coming off everything for a break but am worried that it would make the pain worse even though there was no endo found at my lap last year x

If it's not working for you then come off. Different strokes for different Folks.

Yeah, I just worry about being off something completely but honestly can't handle the thought of changing hormones right now, pros and cons I guess

How comes your getting your period with cerezette? Do you take it back to back with no break?

in reply tosanchia46

Yeah, bang on same time every day ad been on it about a year and it's always been the same, my periods are every two months but I spend one month of that in agony like my body really needs a period, full womb feeling, hair falling out, spotty and horrible cramps and then my periods last for about three weeks, it's horrible

just started cerazette after sugery - 2 chocolate cysts rom each ovary, adhesions and a fibroid - I am on month 2 and been told that I can get irregular periods or none at all. I came on this morning. If you're in pain though, that's not normal, go till they check everything. Small adhesions in the abdomen can't be seen on scans most times :/

in reply tostrboros

Yeah she told me to take a small break like I wanted amd then go on a combined pull without a break again, idk she seems to think not being on it wil affect my fertility
