Post lap day 3 - advice needed

Hi ladies,

Thanks so much for all your pre lap advice - this is such an invaluable tool and a great community. By reading some of your posts it helped me feel prepared.

I now need a bit more advice please!

Had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on Tuesday morning. They found endo on my womb, on both the uterosacral ligaments and a uterine polyp, all of which were removed. I was also told I have a heart shaped uterus, which was news to me!

I was in agony when I came round in the recovery room and Bp dropped significantly - given Emergancy morphine etc. I had to stay overnight but came home on Wednesday.

I’ve been given paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine but as yet, none of that seems to be taking away the pain. I have the obvious stomach pain from the surgery as well as horrendous gas pain in chest and lower down. I didn’t sleep at all last night because of and also not being able to find a position that was comfortable. Stomach is huge!

Im conscious this might all be normal but I wasn’t really given any info from the hospital as to the type of recovery I could expect. Would anyone be able to tell me whether this is all as expected or if I should contact hospital?

I was the same when I had my op. I rang my GP and requested some oramorph for a few days which really helped take the edge away from the pain.

Thank you for the reply. That’s useful to know. I called the hospital but they were a bit dismissive and referred me back to consultants secretary. I may try my GP.
