Pain killer advice

I am currently taking co codamol 30/500 and naproxen, these are my everyday meds, the problem is I think I need something when the pain gets unbearable, the doctor keeps suggesting tramadol but I’m worried this will be too strong, is anyone on tramadol or something similar that helps? That’s obviously stronger then what I’m on already. Thank you xx

Hi there, I was on tramadol for 2 weeks, I became very low in my mood and wouldn't talk much. When I figured out what might be causing it, I came off the tramadol and felt better within 2 weeks. I would only take it again if my life depended on it. Naproxen did help me. I've tried diclofenac but that really doesn't do anything for me. I now use Nurofen plus which is a combination of codeine and ibuprofen. You can take 2 every 4 hours. I also rake ibuprofen and codeine separately. Codeine can make you constipated though. Yes this is what I mean I’ve heard so many bad stories about tramadol, which makes me worried, I also have 600mg ibuprofen as well but sometimes none of this works, even taking 2 co codamol and 2 naproxen together at the same time x

I found dihydrocodeine really worked when I had endometriosis. (The DF118 ones that are 40mg) I've had a hysterectomy now thankfully.

I take 2 codeine, 2 paracetamol and 2 tramadol 4 times a day, im unable to take any medications like ibuprofen or naproxen without getting stomach cramps and diarrhoea. I personally don't find the tramadol that effective at all but my doctors is reluctant to prescribe anything like oramorph. I think you need to be very careful if you start taking tramadol as it is very addictive. Ive been taking codeine for 5 years and im not dependent on it but after 2 months taking tramadol I cannot go without it at night without suffering from terrible night sweats. I wish I had never started taking it but until my doctors agree to prescribe oramorph I dont have much choice unfortunately. There are alot of scary stories in the media about tramadol addiction and people slipping into comas if they take tramadol and alcohol together x

Yeah I would never drink on them, it would only be for when it’s really really bad, and I have a pre-op on 3rd feb so hopefully will be better after surgery xxx
