Losing weight and panicking

Since my bowel shave surgery in July for RV Endo I developed viral meningitis then digestive complications particularly severe acid reflux and esophagitis, along with an anxiety disorder. I was 8 stone 2 before surgery and am now down to 7 stone 4, which is underweight on the BMI measure. I'm starting to get scared as I am experiencing things like hair loss and lethargy. I am trying to gain weight but nothing seems to work, I can't eat processed fat or sugary foods or large portions for the pain I get. Has anyone else experienced this and gotten through it??? I'm ovo veggie. Advice and ideas welcome.

When I first went to the doctor he thought I had bulima (he was a rubbish doctor if I had it because someone whos bulimic would not say yes) which anyway I dont have because I have a phobia of sick 😨 Its been maybe 6months since I got ill and developed since then I couldnt digest food easily still cant I cant even eat a salad without getting pain but I'm eating more than I used to and I cut out gluten which eased it 😮I used to be like 59kg or maybe more at the start now I'm 52kg and still loosing weight I think 😨 The bad thing is for me the doctor did nothing but send me to a therapist for anxiety 😤 If you are worried go see a doctor they might be able to send you to a food expert 🤔 I've also heard nuts are fatting what about fatty fish? Have you tried splitting your food into lots of snacks?😮 Hope my long ramble helped 😂

Hugs . Sounds similar.....what set yours off? Was it surgery?

I've gone from 51.7kg to 46.3 . My counselor suggested I might be anorexic last week which was funny. I don't think I'm fat and am trying to put on weight but the acid burn is too painful and stress triggers the acid burn. i tried sertraline but that made the acid far worse and I lost more weight.

Yes I'm trying snacks and am gluten free. I'm allergic to nuts but am using sunflower butter. I'm veggie so won't eat fish.

Actually mine was set off by a bug I have quite a strong immune system but me and my brother caught a bug my brother recovered after a day I never full recovered I was having nausea everyday but changing my diet and accepting that its part of me helped me but even when my nausea is bad I get stressed so I try distract myself 😮 Its funny how professionals always think weight loss is caused by mental health there is other factors you know 😂 Have you been diagnosed with ibs because I have a few tricks if its similar to that? For the nausea when its bad I take buscopan and sometimes it works also I wear travel sickness bands 😮 Its hard though I dont know if you are like me no matter how much I changed my diet some weeks I'm almost nausea free and some weeks I'm constantly nauseous 😤 Sorry I missed the veggie part 😮 Can you have seeds? 🤔 Do you eat a lot of sweet potatoes and rice they are high carbs? Also have you got Pinterest? They have some good antiflammortary diets I know you are worried about weight but if the weight loss is caused by your stomach getting inflamed and burning all the food of fast then maybe looking into that might help 😮 I'm sorry I may not be much help but at least you are not alone 😮

Aah. I developed viral meningitis straight after my op. No never been diagnosed with IBS, just occasionally had acid reflux after too much wine. I don't get nausea just acid then chest pain after the acid and a vile acid taste and sore throat. Yes seeds are good. I like sweet potato. Will look into anti inflammatory diets thank you. I had been trying a hybrid of FODMAP and low acid. I use turmeric and ginger.

Very helpful thx. It's comforting to know I'm not alone. Just pray I can get myself stabilised.
