Feeling let down by consultants...

After convincing my laid back consultant that I am still not right (he admitted he can't really be bothered to investigate further) I'm meant to be booked in for my third laparoscopy, it's been over two months and normally I would have received my date... but nothing. I desperately need to know my date as I'm getting close to exams in my 2nd year of Uni and need to make arrangements if I am going to miss them (I've already missed two years of exams through college and 1st year). I am really struggling mentally, plus arguing with a consultant that despite two operations and still having multiple trips to A&E monthly thinks the best option is to stop all painkillers and "wait and see in 6 months" is not supporting at all. Does anyone else has issues with their consultant - mine still hasn't told me what stage I am?

Oh gosh I understand from the college standpoint and having them not really believe you/be bothered to help further. Is it possible for you to see another one? You should be able to request to see the surgical notes and see what stage you are.

6 months?!?!?! To be in pain and be miserable?! That’s unacceptable. I would get a second opinion. I’ve been having problems too and will be having a 3rd surgery after my finals next week. I’ve been through hell to get to this point. It’s a constant battle.

Good luck and I’m sorry they’re being this way.. I’m here for you if you need me x

My hospital only has one consultant, I've asked to be transferred to the hospital near my uni but they've said it's not possible... I'll look into having a copy of the surgical notes thank you!

My thoughts exactly, he was very reluctant to do my operation but I refused to just sit back and be in terrible pain for six months purely because he can't be bothered to investigate - he's even said it might not be my endo but has not mentioned any intention to look into other causes.

Good luck with your surgery and finals! Thank you x
