I had my lap nearly 3 weeks ago, I saw my consultant who confirmed I had endometriosis but has been cut out, I have been told my ovaries and tubes are clear which is a huge relief. They have discharged me but will be writing to my doctor to confirm the conversation and also to say if I get symptoms again to refer back straight away.
My question is my stitches are now dissolving in my belly button but it’s gone a bit sore, could this be from where my skin is tightening from healing? I’m probably asking a silly question here but how long does it take for all the gas to go?

It may be a bit sore due to your body trying to degrade the stitches and the bellybutton is a site where they have to do a lot of moving around (usually with the camera and filling you up with gas.)
Not a silly question! The gas depends on how well it was released and how your body decides to get rid of it. For my first surgery it took about a week. Now currently recovering from my second, I’m almost two weeks post op and still have some gas pains. It all depends! But it should go away soon.
My belly button was healing for absolutely ages!! And it looked swollen and weird, I didn’t like it at all. But now, 11 weeks after lap, it’s all fine and back to normal. Just be patient...
I did not have any gas problems at all to be honest, but 3 weeks its only a short time to recover. I was back to work after that time (primary school teacher) and I should have stayed one more week at home ...
Thank you both for your replies. I’m still waiting on the results of my swab just to make sure about my belly button but it looks like the stitches have now gone which is good and the gas pains have eased quite a bit in the last few days.
I agree with the going back to work I’m a property manager and although I work from home I do wish I had taken a third week as I was shattered after 3 days working.
